Black & Decker Toast-R-Oven TRO420 1200 Watts Toaster Oven

Pros: Affordable, looks nice, toasts evenly and temps for baking consistent.
Cons: Toasting dial rather than toggle or switch, unsafe. Oven stays on when opened, unsafe!

While Black & Decker TRO420 1200 Watts Toast-R-Oven does toast evenly and bakes at a fairly consistent temperature, the on/off dial for the toaster is dicey. Instead of a toggle or push down switch it is a dial and you cannot get a consistent setting for toast each time. Also the oven does not automatically turn off when you open the door, which was good safety feature in other ovens we've had. When we tried to move the dial to on for a short time to toast a little more it seems the toaster stayed on after we took the toast out. Because the oven temp is set to 450 for toasting it appeared that the oven was turning off. Thank goodness I had occasion to return to the house before leaving for work because the oven was blasting away in the corner (door open and all) ... and it was hot to trott. It had been on for approx one hour ... had I not returned I have not doubt it would have caught fire eventually.
