I can't believe that there are this many 5-star rating! They must of wrote them soon after they bought them and got lucky. I used to think it was a good (not great) toaster, but what ever detects the amount of darkness must wear out. I was about to toss mine out the door, but I thought I should check for a recall first. To my surprise, there wasn't a recall for this toaster. I can't believe it and neither can my fire alarm. I start by setting mine at 2 and push it down 3 times and during the third time it starts to burn and the lever won't let you pop it up, without a struggle. So I start the next toast at 3 and guess what, burnt toast. I just don't know why it is so hard to prefect a toaster!
