Pros: Easy to use. Works well. Gets most weeds cut. Cons: Dragging the cord around.
I have trouble starting the pull cord outdoor tools so prefer electric. That's why I got a Black & Decker Grass Hog Electric Trimmer. It was the only option for electric in the weed wacker category down at Lowe's which is the only big home and garden ...
Pros: Light, durable, comfortable grip, automatic feed Cons: Cord "clip" is a bit tight for the thickness of most outdoor extension cords
When I inherited the chore of mowing our lawn as a teen, it wasn’t the mowing that annoyed me so much as the edging afterwards. Edging, with one of those manual tools, with the cutting edge that looked a bit like a tilted diamond. Maybe it was trying ...
Pros: cheap, good on short grass Cons: not as durable as I hoped, struggles with thick brush
We have an average sized yard (roughly 4000 sq. ft. of yard) with a large easement that we have to maintain (a drainage area that is roughly 2500 sq. ft.), and we wanted to get something that could both help with the front yard and the drainage area. We ...
Pros: Lightweight but very durable. Cons: Auto-feed uses too much line.
I purchased my Black and Decker Grass Hog Electric Trimmer at Sears when they had their Spring Lawn sale this year. It was a bargain at $99 and that included an extra spool of string. I needed it as a replacement for an earlier model Black ...
Pros: Reliable, easy to use, light weight. Cons: It has a cord, but I was looking for a trimmer with a cord.
I use this trimmer for the relatively light trimming and edge work in my yard. I really only edge around my foundation and mailbox, and I edge every few weeks along the road. I get by with 75 feet of extension cord, but obviously different yards will ...
Not bad compared to competition by tommytwotone ,Nov 19 '08
Pros: Quality, power, functions pretty good, reasonably priced Cons: Lets out a lot of line with it's autofeed
Most electric yard trimmers these days die on me after a year or two. This one has hung in there for several years now and has always been stronger than the other ones I got. I like the extension cord holder, works well for my cord. Only downside is that the autofeed is pretty generous and I go through a lot of trimming cord. But I got a big spool of that and this trimmer holds a decent amount of it, so no biggie.
Powerful but Automatic Feed Does NOT Work . by rxd2 ,Jun 07 '09
Pros: Unit has more power than most. 2 trimming lines give more cutting power. Cons: Absolutely NO automatic feed even with pre-wound spool supplied by manufacturer !
Purchased Black & Decker Grass Hog 14" on 6/6/09. It came with a spool wound with 2 pieces of .060 monofilament. Unit was easy to assemble. Auto feed did NOT work, even with pre-wound spool supplied by manufacturer. Followed all instructions in manual (minimum length of line, wind neatly, etc.) Bought this unit to replace an older Black & Decker that had quit auto feeding.
After this experience, I can NOT reccomend Black & Decker trimmers !
