Pros: Well...it's easy to find and priced lower than other craft beer Cons: Not enough pumpkin; Too much crystal malt flavor
Fall is a time for change and with it comes some good seasonal brews. Most beer drinkers are familiar with the Octoberfest/Marzen style and some of the well- known brewers like Becks and Samuel Adams brew their own version of this type of beer. But ...

Pros: It's everywhere! And it's delicious. Cons: I can't think of any.
As everybody knows, fall is the time that pumpkins come into season. The pumpkin, of course, is a very versatile food. You can make soup out of it if you like, and some do. You can also use it in cookies, cake, or the perrenia holiday favorite, pumpkin ...
Pros: It's drinkable, nice bottle Cons: pumpkin ale? More like an ale that's been Punk'd
Recently, I decided to make another beer run, but I wanted to do a different type of beer run. Usually, I go looking for a single bottle or two of REALLY good beer. Occassionally, I need to buy mass beers for a party. Other times, I head out on a ...
Pros: Very spicy palate; genuine pumpkin taste; fairly smooth Cons: Not smooth or light enough to be appreciated by average beer drinker; acquired taste
It rsquo;s funny how the same beer can taste differently depending on the circumstances in which it is drunk. When I first tried Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale it was a few bottles at a family BBQ and I wasn rsquo;t paying much attention to the taste and ...
Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale, is a Treat, not a Trick! by silaskane ,Oct 05 '06
Pros: Well balanced, not overly pungent, very smooth with nice hints of pumpkin and spices. Cons: Limited availability
I tried this beer 1-2 years ago, and it is by far, one of the many reasons I look forward to the Fall season. Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale is only available 2-3 months out of the year, usually from September to November. However, it usually sells out well before November.
In comparison to Cottonwood's Pumpkin Ale, BM is not overly pungent and it is very smooth.
There is a good balance between the pumpkin, spices and barley/malt/hops.
Highly recommended and limited availability, so get it while you can.
A True Harvest Ale (But a bit light on the "Pumpkin") by thebrewmaster ,Oct 04 '07
Pros: delicious, beautiful amber colour, widely available, modestly priced Cons: not very pumkiny
Another delicious Blue Moon variety (subsidiary of Coors Molson brewing).
Most would (and rightly so) be surprised by the lack of pumpkiny taste, but bear in mind that if this beer tasted like pumpkin pie critics would bash this brew for being a wussy or effeminate "alcoholic beverage". It is true, the "Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale" tastes little of pumpkin (there is a hint if you have a discerning palate) and would be more appropriately named simply "Harvest Moon" but the spirit of a heavier autumn amber is excellently articulated through a blend of clove and... oh heck, I'm on my fifth one tonight and it's great - take it for what it is (a delicious seasonal brew, though not very pumpkiny) or leave it.
