Quality grinder at an affordable price

by kandcats , Aug 12 '04
Pros: Price, design, conical burr grinder that delivers consistent grinds
Cons: Espresso aficionados may want a more expensive machine
For your daily grind - Blade vs. Burr If you are looking for a coffee grinder you may have noticed you have a choice – blade or burr grinders. You may have wondered about the difference between these types of grinders and if it ...

Good but...

by mcguirejw , Sep 12 '03
Pros: Attractive design. Great job of grinding coffee. Vastly superior to cheap blade grinders.
Cons: Control is awkward and balky. Hard to grind precise amount of coffee.
I got this to replace a long series of Braun burr grinders (KMM30) that we have used for many years. The Bodum Antigua looks great and has a good solid "feel" to it. It certainly does a fine job of, well, grinding coffee beans, whether fine or medium/co ...

Take your home coffee to a new level

by bwayman , Apr 24 '01
Pros: Gives a professionally even ground
Cons: Measuring system is not reliable
Nothing matches the taste and aroma of fresh ground coffee. Most of us who grind our own coffee beans at home use those little Braun blade grinders. They are affordable and last forever, but you never get an even grind -- its part fine powder, part...

Great deal for the price.

by dargentini , Aug 24 '02
Pros: Large bean hopper, true conical burrs, slow speed grinding.
Cons: Large size, will not grind fine enough for top espresso makers.
I've used many burr grinders over the years but this is the best designed one yet at under a hundred dollars ($60-$80). I like the low static slow grind speed and large stainless steel conical burrs that are easily and quickly cleaned. It grinds evenly...

Tried the Bodum Grinder

by eeman , Mar 19 '03
Pros: Cooling looking, less messy than other grinders
Cons: timer doesn't work for a full pot
I purchased this grinder because I liked the style- it looks really cool and this unit is heavy and felt like it was heavy duty.

This machine uses a conical burr grind with a 2 stage gear driving it from the motor for a slower, cooler grind....

Bodum Antigua

by jburik , Mar 24 '02
Pros: -similar to grinders in coffeehouses -relatively inexpensive -grinds fine enough for espresso!
Cons: -noisy -limited durability (plastic coffee holders, top and bottom) -short shaft into timer knob
The Bodum Antigua grinder is an adequate "transitional" product between home versions of grinders and the professional models found in coffeehouses. It grinds fine enough for my espresso machine--the specific reason I bought it. It did not grind coarse...

Bodum: A big, messy mill

by mwagers , Jan 07 '02
Pros: Grind amount setting. Available in black
Cons: BIG. Messy.
I recently purchased this grinder for my sister for Christmas. I also recently got a DeLonghi for my birthday. I prefer the DeLonghi.

Heres Why:

SIZE

This is a big grinder(8 by 10.5 in). If you have limited...

Bodum Grinder

by like2paddle , Sep 19 '02
Pros: cheap
Cons: messy, grind is too course
Coffee grinder was relatively inexpensive (under $100.00), but I found it messy. I was told it was "anti-static", yet coffee spilled everywhere when I opened plastic container, and also the grind was way too course for my espresso machine (a Gaggia). I...

Bodum bogus?

by billinchile , Mar 05 '02
Pros: You can store beans inside between grinds
Cons: Doesn't grind fine enough for pump expresso machines
This machine looks quite substantial and professional on the countertop. The upper container, which holds the beans, is transparent, and lends a "coffee house" look to the apparatus. Kind of like the machines you see the "baristas" using. The ones...

You get what you pay for

by navycommander , Jul 25 '03
Pros: big hopper, looks good, no jams
Cons: static charge issues, clean-up every time.
It holds more beans than the Braun and I think it looks better (especially in black), but keep the s ...

Great Machine, but quickly wears out!

by monk25 , Oct 12 '01
Pros: Large Capacity, timer.
Cons: Does not wear well
When I first purchased the Bodum grinder, I was very pleased with the quality of the grind. Unfortunately, the machine does not wear well. I have now had the machine for about 1 year (grinding at least once a day), and now have to set the timer to 12 4...

Bodum rarely disappoints me... well actually not at all yet.

by jenandlaw99 , Feb 13 '06
Pros: Good value, quality construction--a real winner!
Cons: A VERY small con is the dial mechanism, but not a deal-breaker.
I purchased this specifically to grind beans for my french press before I discovered my "magic coffee maker" (the Bodum vacuum coffee maker). The grind is adjustable of course, so it works for other types of coffee makers as well. The hopper is very ...

Where did you get it...
by tilgnerkt ,Jul 17 '04
Pros: Large hopper, great grinder and looks good.
Cons: The cup selector is a timer and is not always accurate.
I am asked all the time where did you get it? I have been using a french press for many years and I get a reliable grind from this machine every time. The Bodum is a convenient and good looking grinder.

Bodum Antigua
by coffeeman555 ,Sep 24 '04
Pros: May make good French press grind.
Cons: Useless for espresso.
A good looking machine that will only grind to a fine setting of very course sand. Useless for making espresso and related drinks.

An inquiry to the company got no response.
