Pros: well-plotted, likable characters, a strong mystery Cons: Some plot points heavily forced
It was supposed to be just a simple two-week archaeology field course, a favor for a friend. By the time Dr. Temperance "Tempe" Brennan was finished, however, the affair had blossomed into a full-blown serial murder investigation. Such complications are, ...
Pros: Interesting main character, forensic anthropology Cons: too many characters, not enough red herrings, abrupt ending
Fans of the TV series Bones on Fox will enjoy this book. That is because this is the series that the TV show is based on. Kathy Reichs, herself a forensic anthropologist, created the character of Dr. Temperance Brennan. Through this series ...
Pros: good suspense, good techno writing, romance, South Carolina history thrown in Cons: none; a good mystery read
I was really looking forward to the next in this series of books by Kathy Reichs and she did not disappoint.
Although other books had more grisly details and more techno-babble (albeit, interesting techno) this story had its own interesting twists. Her stories always include the boring and mundane parts of forensic investigation, as well as the on-the-edge suspense. Reichs makes the 90-minute drive to have a mollusk expert check out a shell for ten minutes an important, although yawning experience. My favorite part of her writing are the dialogs between Tempe and Ryan. Or Tempe and Pete. They are fresh, witty, sometimes sexy and with eye rolls, dog eyebrow twitching and some passion thrown in, you are in for a fast exciting read, from Deja Dead to Break No Bones. I hope the TV show does her justice.
