Pros: Beautiful, lush landscaping. Clean. Lots of rides/restrooms. Short lines. Comparatively cool. Cons: Expensive. Pricey admission and food. Not for thrill seekers.
Bonfante Gardens was a pleasant surprise. I'd never seen pictures of it, so I didn't know what to expect. Friends who had been there said it was nice and worth going to. I'd heard about its famous Circus Trees, but been put off by the hefty admission ...
Pros: Lots to do & fun, full day of activities, fills a nitch for young children Cons: Boring for older kids, the dreaded theme park long line waits on some rides
This is a great family outing for families with young children. Where most theme parks cater either to older children and young adults, Bonfante Gardens is a place that is aimed at young children. And it succeeds at that goal. Weve been to ...
Pros: Clean, beautiful, affordable, and fun for the kiddies! Cons: Out of the way, Boring for older kids and some adults
Mr. Bonfante loves trees. In fact he bought a collection of "circus trees" grown by some old crank who figured out how to grow trees in shapes and patterns. Supposedly, no one else has ever figured out the secret.
Pros: Beautiful gardens, family friendly, a fun place Cons: none
Bonfante Gardens Theme Park in Gilroy, California (about 45 minutes south of San Jose)is fabulous! This is not a theme park along the lines of a Six Flags full of radical rides, screams and thrills. In fact, teenagers looking for that sort of thing will...
Pros: Great for 2-6 year olds and adults. Cons: None if you fit the above categories.
Bonfante is a beautiful and relaxing full-day outing for a family with younger children. The rides are perfect for the younger set and the gardens are a great relief for the adults.
The kids we brought liked the car rides as well as the...
VERY Beautiful and Fun Park by pepper2000 ,Jul 30 '04
Pros: Fun and Beautiful Family Park, Reasonable Food Prices Cons: Limited Season, Hot during the Summer
This is a great park for preteens and adults that like beautiful gardens and good wholesome fun at a reasonable price. There are even a lot of rides that young toddlers enjoy. Warm in the summer but the park has so many trees there is a lot of shade to cool off under. The Circus Trees and the Gardens are great. The food is very reasonably priced. It is more expensive than outside the park but not two or three times as high like many theme parks.
I do not understand why it is not advertised in our area. I have never found anyone in the Central Valley, of California, that has ever even heard of it. We are 3-4 hours away but we have made the trip in a single day several times.
We bought season passes for this year that was a great deal. Now that you can get discount tickets online and at a number of other locations I think it is very reasonably priced. I think the $32 price at the gate is about $10 too high
Perfect Park for Toddlers!!! by cherriedt ,May 24 '08
Pros: Great park for toddlers if you don't like crowds!!! Cons: Need to re-evaluate the system for the Rainbow Garden Boat Ride!!!
My girls (ages 5 & 4) cannot get enough of this park!!! We have been going there for the past three years now with season passes...totally worth it. To save money on season passes, I suggest having only one family member get the Premium Pass and the rest of the family get the Lotsa Card. If you don't like to deal with crowds or rude teenagers, this is the park for you and your toddler(s). There are plenty of places for them to run around, great little hidden picnic/seating areas around the gardens, and plenty of shade for those hot summer Gilroy days. There is a water park for the kids to enjoy, it's a little bit small, but my girls did not mind it at all. Lots of rides perfect for toddlers. If you haven't been there yet, definitely check it out this summer. From what I hear, they are planning to expand the park, hopefully more water rides/attractions...anyways see you there!
A great place for the little ones... by kelelyn100 ,Sep 13 '06
Pros: A great place for little children. Cons: Expensive admission and expensive food
I had heard of Bonfante Gardens but had never been because I thought it would be a place that wouldn't really interest me or my children. I was wrong. My friend and I went with our children (all under 4) and we had a great time.
Bonfante Gardens has rides geared completely towards little kids. Little kids can go on pretty much every ride there and not have to watch while other people have all of the fun. Of course, the scenery is beautiful too! :) They have a really cool water playground where the kids can play and have a great time getting cooled off. My friend and I bought our children swimsuits there and they were very reasonably priced. As a matter of fact, I didn't see any swimsuit there priced over $15.
When we went to lunch, the food was a little pricey and not the greatest, but really, it's an amusement park, so you kind of expect that.
Overall, Bonfante Gardens was a really good time for me and my family. We will definitely be visiting Bonfante Gardens next summer.
