Pros: A fast read!  What relevancy do heroes possess in this version of the '50s.
Cons: Need knowledge of history of Batman and Superman to really get this book!

Summary: Enemies and Alliesby Kevin J. Anderson is an interesting alternate history look, not only for Batman and Superman’s first meeting but also a new look at the USA of the 1950s, complete with the Cold War and banging shoes at the UN by a certain ... read more

    Pros: Neat retro setting
    Cons: It just didn't deliver

Summary: Kevin J. Anderson's Enemies & Allies is a book where the cover promises more awesomeness than what the pages deliver. It's about Batman and Superman teaming up against Lex Luthor, and it's kind of boring. I think the target audience here was ... read more

Cons: A fast read; would have loved more espionage in the story

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Jun 20, 2009
Pros: Classic characters, 1950's superheroing, a fast read.
Cons: Heavy on the Superman side; not enough time in costume for either hero.

Summary: Last year I read Kevin J. Anderson's brilliant hardcover prose novel, The Last Days of Krypton.  The science fiction story managed to tell a Superman story without Superman, instead focusing on his Kryptonian parents, Jor-El and Lara--how they met, ... read more
