Jesus was a Socialist

by BaronSamedi3 , Jun 07 '09
Pros: It's a quick read
Cons: I've found the worst book ever written. Worse than The Sun Also Rises
I admittedly would have been actively shouting "Preach it!" at the top of my lungs had I read Jesus for President during my brief flirtation with socialism a few years ago. But recently I've been delving into a lot of economic writings and I kind of ran ...

I want Jesus answering the phone at 3:00am

by imagine_stars imagine_stars is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Books, , Apr 18 '08

A new President
by crevis05 ,Mar 25 '09
Pros: Beautifully put together, and creative, and offers a new look at Christianity.
Cons: The chapters are long.
I recently read this book, after reading Irresistable Revolution, by Shane Claiborne.  Jesus for President is a call to contemporary Christians to take up your cross and live a more peculiar Christianity.  How can we worship a homeless man on Sundays, but then ignore the homeless the rest of the week.  Shane, and Chris deal with how to merge a life of Christian subordination with the government and how the two sides can't be reconciled.  The authors illustrate how we are to pledge allegiance to Jesus before any nation-state.  It is a must read to any who wish to learn more about the roots of Christianity, and why we do the things we do.
