As a parent of a child with Down syndrome, I feel books like "My name is NOT Monkey Girl is vital. This book not only tells a story, but it is also about awareness. It teaches children to accept those who are different.

I purchased My Name is Not Monkey Girl when it first came out because I was so impressed with Candace and Miriam's story. and was very impressed with this book. I absolutely LOVE everything about this book, from the storyline to the illustrations to the author and main character themselves. I shared it with my family and friends as well as all of my children's teachers and the school counselor. Everyone whom I have shared it with has been equally impressed with this books quality and the way that it helps you to see life through the eyes of a child! It truly makes you see that even though someone may look different they are the same inside. I would definitely purchase this book for any other children, grandchildren, or anyone special in your life. It is a DEFINITE MUST HAVE!!!!!!

This has been one of the most inspiring books that I have read in quite some time. Candace is a rare Gem. I hope that we as human beings can only learn from this wonderful child. By the time you finish the book you will see the beauty inside and out. What a remarkable child. A gift for all ages.
