Pros: Smooth, powerful, accurate Cons: Small bit opening in baseplate, chips flying everywhere!
I purchased the 1613EVS back in 1997 after trying a co-workers model and liking what I felt. It has been my sole router ever since. I have used it freehand in plunge mode and in a table. As gcavener mentions in his review, a plunge router is not...

Pros: Beautifully made, feels good, plunge works well Cons: Switch and speed control placement
I bought the Bosch 1613 EVS plunge router because I had earlier purchased the 1617EVS fixed base router and love it. I had considered the new Porter Cable #7529 and didn't have a strong preference either way. The quality seemed to be pretty equal, but...

This router earned a place under the work bench!

Pros: Long cord, good motor brushes Cons: height adjust slips, shaft vibrates with larger slot cutters.
The micro-depth adjustment slips causing costly mistakes and time consuming adjustments to adapt to the tools dysfunctions. After replacing main bearings the motor shaft still had severe vibration with a 2" diameter slot cutter. This tool wasted more time (in repairs) and caused more damage by slipping in the middle of a pass than its worth. Sorry Bosch but the Home Depot Ryobi router had to finish the job without a complaint. Working with hardwoods in a semi production type shop this tool is not recommended. The speed control works, the motor runs, the body is chip resistant. Replacement parts are expensive, and did not help much.
The bottom line is forget about it.
