Pros: Great ride, outstanding build quality, versatile, unsinkable Cons: Expensive compared to many competitors in this size range
Summary: The 160 Dauntless is a fine, high-quality boat that feels larger than its small 16-foot size. I've used my 2003 Dauntless for one season mostly on the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay, and I couldn't be happier. I use the boat mostly for general ...

Pros: Unsinkable Roomy Easy to handle Flexible Attractive Fast Quality Hold their money Cons: Heavy for size of Boat Expensive to buy compared to other brands
Summary: I too have taken the plunge (no pun intended) and bought a 1999/2000 model with an ELPTO Merc 90. Coming from the RIB community I was surprised by how heavy the boat is for its size. However, this is because it is beautifully constructed and detailed ...

Pros: For us fishing types- there is a wealth of rod holders and tackle slots.Excellent!! Cons: Its readiness to porpoise was cured with the addition of Lenco trim tabs.
Summary: I bought my Whaler from a private U.K. importer; the boat then subsequently underwent a post-construction 'C.E. Certificate' required on all boats here in England. I had been very keen to own a whaler for some years- my Dauntless was a ...

Pros: Stable, feels safe. Handles sea like a bigger boat. Fast! Trailers well. Cons: Expensive. Rides bow high at lower speed. Merc not first choice of engine.
Summary: Bought the 160 Dauntless with Merc 115 4-stroke at the end of the season and saved a couple thousand dollars. Still far from inexpensive but then I didn't want a cheap boat. I was looking for a safe, stable boat for my family to enjoy on the bays and ...

Pros: Beautiful, handles like twice the size Cons: Expensive, minimal storage
Summary: My first boat 30 years ago was an 18 foot thompson open bow---my most recent was a Formula 29 PC cruiser. Neither compare in any way to this "bigger than its size" Boston Whaler which I just bought two weeks ago and have enjoyed on rough and...

Pros: Reliable, bullet proof, well designed, smooth riding. Cons: price tag is a bit high.
Summary: I recently purchased my 16 Dauntless to mainly fish and cruise. Living in the pacific NW Washington we salmon fish the San Juan Islands and many lakes nearby. Knowing this, I need a reliable sturdy boat to pilot though some of the most amazing waters in

Pros: Fit and finish is what you'd expect from a top of the line boat. Cons: For its size, It's a costly boat.
Summary: The 2002 Dauntless can take the waves of Lake Huron (very choppy) like a much larger boat, and with the 90 horse Mercury it can go

Pros: Well built, handles like a big boat - we love it! Cons: EXPENSIVE
Summary: We picked up our 16' Boston Whaler Dauntless this weekend. This will be our first boat and because we were unable to afford the larger boats our friends recommended for use on the Rappahanock River, we researched the most stable, seaworthy "small" boat.
