Pros: Superb food, gorgeous setting, excellent service Cons: I can't afford to eat there every night.
For the last night of our recent trip to the San Francisco bay area, my husband and I wanted a special romantic dinner to round off our visit. Based on three prior visits, Boulevard restaurant was the obvious pick, not least of all because we can ...

Pros: The food is really very good and the service is outstandingly professional Cons: Can be expensive, especially if you are not monitoring your wine consumption
Lunch with my niece is always a pleasant prospect, but even more so when the chosen venue happens to be Boulevard, near the Embarcadero in San Francisco. The Exterior The Auddifred Building, one of the few survivors of the ...

Pros: Very nice wait staff, well-prepared food, desserts Cons: A bit slow, very few vegetarian options
I went to Boulevard for the first time last Friday with six others (a bon voyage lunch for a friend), and we had a lot of fun. Three hours of fun, to be exact.
Our waiter was extremely pleasant and the wait staff could not have been nicer. But...

Pros: Decor, food, wine list Cons: Every bite gets you one step closer to the end
Boulevard is one of the best restaurants in San Francisco for good reason (It has been rated #1 in Zagat's SF two years running).
The restaurant is located on the Embarcadero, within sight of the Bay and the Bay Bridge, adding to the...

Pros: The food, the food, the food Cons: The seating hostesses, the decor, parking
I had high hopes for Boulevard as it was repeatedly voted "Most Popular" by Zagat. The Good: the food was superb. The cheese selection was interesting and presented beautifully; my lobster bisque was thick, creamy and filled with sweet lobster flavour....

Pros: Very nice atmosphere, great service, good food Cons: Overpriced and overhyped!
The decor in Boulevard is very nice, classy but warm. The tables are a bit close to each other, but the noisy level isnt terrible. Still, not the best for holding hands and gazing into each others eyes, when theres a table a few feet away. The service...

Pros: Food and Service Quality Cons: Image Conscious Atmosphere
Undoubtedly, there is a certain atmosphere of hype that surrounds Boulevard; reading many of the other opinions, I see that some others sense it as well. Though not as ostentatious (and tacky) as the Starlight Room, Boulevard exudes a certain...

Pros: The food Cons: Directions- Ignore what they say and just drive down Embarcadero to Mission.
Started with the Tuna Tartar and Curry and Prawn soup. Both were excellent and the soup was the best soup I've ever eaten. Tartar came with won tons stuffed with Shiitake Mushrooms, Ginger, Carrot & Cilantro and a Spicy Chinese Mustard Sauce- Great!!....

Pros: Great Food and Great Service Cons: You Might Have to Sit Near Snobby People
One time, a rich friend of mine took me to eat at Boulevard. He brought a friend with him-- some woman who worked in Los Angeles. Her mom was famous, but she wasn't. We sat at the bar and drank some very expensive drinks first. When our table was ready,...

Pros: Meat dishes, wine, room volume Cons: Service, table size, bland decor
I'll say this right out: I've never really been impressed with San Fran's dinner scene. But when my parents ordered me to get a reservation here next time I visited, it piqued my interest.
I went last at the end of last summer, and I must say the...

Pros: Extensive Wine List Cons: Too Noisy, Too Crampy
Boulevard has been rated as SF's #1 restaurants 2 years in a row, but I highly doubt the credibility of the rating. The place itself was big, but the tables were all squished together. I was just about to participate in the next table's conversation if...

I accidentally found a marvelous restaurant
by jackcohn ,Apr 05 '05
Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance, Wine List Cons: Can be noisy; Expect to pay for what you are receiving.
I was staying at the Hyatt Regency and wandered down the Embarcadero for a bite to eat. I was immediately attracted to the exterior of Boulevard, and to the obviously lively and festive scene within. I asked whether there would be a long wait for a single diner, and was immediately offered a table in the bar area. The waitstaff, while quite busy, was extremely attentive, perhaps giving me even a little extra attention as I was by myself. My appetizer and entree both were outstanding. The complicated dishes were flawlessly executed and delicious. Because I was alone, I had a lot of time to look around. While businessperson-heavy, there was an eclectic crowd all of whom appeared to having a great time. I visited on a Tuesday, and it was quite hopping. I will definitely try to visit again next time in San Francisco (hopefully with friends). Fair warning, this place is not for those on a tight budget.
