Pros: Saves time, space, easy to use Cons: None except the cost.
Since we bought a travel trailer 2 years ago we have been struggling with how to work out on the road. I used to bring a set of dumbbells and bands but that just wasn’t enough for me. My husband brought a product ...
Pros: Impressive easy to adjust dumbbells system....you get results! Cons: Price point, and size for some exercises.
Noting that I work out on a regular basis is an understatement as I find myself in the gym hitting the irons early in the morning when most of my co-workers and compadre's are in bed resting. However fitness has become a part of my daily routine, not ...
Pros: Ergonomically designed free weights with wide range of easily adjusted poundage requiring little space. Cons: Limited to 100 lbs and larger/bulkier than traditional free weights.
My husband and I bought a set of these weights when we moved further away from the gym where we had a long-time membership. It became inconvenient for him to workout and with gas prices so high, I didn't drive in that often either. We love these ...
Pros: Saves space, changes weight fast and easy, offers good weight variety Cons: No way to add additional weight if ever desired. (but you shouldn't have to!)
BACKGROUND HISTORY I've been working out nearly half my life. I was a collegiate All-American swimmer, began bodybuilding after college in very serious gyms, and then designed and bought a complete free weight home gym years later for home. We just ...
Pros: A space saving way to add free weights to your workout. Cons: A little bigger than a standard dumbell.
OVERVIEW: I bought both the Selectech 552 and 220 for myself and my wife. We're in our early 30's, fairly active and have worked out regularly, although not religiously for years. Our goals are; me to lose the extra stomach weight I've gained and ...
Pros: Price, cool look, and workouts that they can provide. Cons: None.
I'm not one to copy the owners manual or instructional DVD in my reviews so I'll skip all that. I just want to help out with those people who are considering these things. For those of you who are considering these things and also, someone who will use ...
Pros: Space Saving, Easy to Use, Adjustable to 90lbs... Perfect for Serious Lifters Cons: Awkwardly Bulky, More Resistance Flexibility in the Low-End Would've Been Nice
For years I have used a small home gym consisting of a Bowflex Power Pro home gym machine, as well as a few cheap additions, including Gold's Gym Push-Up Bars, a couple fixed weight dumbells, and ab roller. After a while I realized that it was time to ...
Pros: Quality, Easy to Use, Motivation Factor, Space Saving Cons: Only the Cost
Overview Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells combine 15 different weights into one space saving package. The weight starts at 5 pounds and runs up to 52.5 pounds in increments of 2.5/5 pounds. This weight range should be more than enough for most ...
Pros: Space saving and easy to use Cons: A little pricey (surprise!!!)
Let me start by saying my name is not Hulk and I have no trouble finding clothes to fit me. I don't bench 350 and I don't shed my shirt in public every chance I get. I'm a regular guy who would love to be in better shape. That never ending quest led me ...
Pros: Well-built to do what they claim. Cons: $$$! Multiple bells more convenient/2 people can't use/ More weight range than you'll use,
A reviewer mentioned that the top weight may not be enough for some. I find the opposite: Dumbbells are much harder to lift -per pound- than barbells, and these will probably be all you need for life. (Go to an exercise shop and pick up the 50lb ...
Pros: Convenient, saves space, saves time, they're actually FUN to use. Cons: A little expensive. Can't go beyond 52.5lbs per side.
I asked for these for my birthday, and I am incredibly happy that I did. I don't have space at home for a full dumbell set, and I hate messing around with a bunch of plate changing. This product fits my needs perfectly. I like to do 15-20 rep sets ...
Pros: Solid construction Good value Easy to use and adjust the weights Very compact Nice appearance Cons: None they are really perfect in my opinion
I have worked out in gyms with free weights for years prior to getting married and having kids and not having time to go to the gym. Since then I have owned a bowflex and then a cross bow by Weider. They are both universal gyms and are ...
Pros: Easy to Adjust Each one goes from 10-90 pounds Cons:It breaks
These dumbbells are great if you don't use them often. I bought a set, and after about 5 months, the weights started slipping out of the dumbbells. Usually this would occur when racking the weight, or picking the weight up. This ...
Pros: The fact that they're a dumbbell is the only pro I can come up with Cons: Very poor construction, maximum weight of 52.5 lbs, Way over-priced, Better options
Just like everything else Bowflex makes, the Select Tech dumbbells are over-priced junk! If you're in the market for adjustable dumbbells do a little research as there are MUCH better options. IMO, Powerblock dumbbells are the best adjustable dumbbells on the market. For virtually the same amount of weight (5-50lbs) you can get a set of Powerblocks for $349 that can later be expanded up to 90 lbs or even a 130 lbs. With the Select Tech, you get 52.5 lbs and that's it! The plastic construction alone on the Select Tech's should be enough to make you avoid them like the plague. I have two friends who rushed to purchase these dumbbells and the mechanism that adjusts the weights has failed on both of them. Now they have $400 worth of unusable junk!
Problem with how the weight are held on the dumbells by montanafordguy ,Jan 15 '07
Pros: It stores nice Cons: Very weak plastic holding the weights on.
The system is good however, I have had them for a couple of days and found out that you can't even set them down on anything other than the dumbell holder. The weights are held on by very weak plastic holders. I put mine down and didn't set them down exactly straight. A little piece of plastic flew out of the system. I looked it over and found out that it was the little piece that held on one of the weights.. I'm a bit nervous now lifting 52.5 lbs. on the bench. It this system can't take such a small force applied unevenly, then it has no business being over my head. I'd beware if you are wanting this system to work out with heavier weight. They should have designed this with steel holding the weights on.
