Pros: Saves space; replaces up to 30 dumbbells; easy to use; can workout at home Cons: Expensive; bulky at lighter weight settings; may not be heavy enough for some
We just sold our SelectTech 552 Dumbbells to a neighbor. They are a good product and my husband and I enjoyed using them, but in the end they just were not heavy enough for my husband to maximize his workout program. Late last summer, in ...
Pros: Gives better results than regular dumbbells, and saves space Cons: Can get pricey with the stand. Dials sometimes get stuck. Sometimes weights fall out.
The Selecttech system is the perfect set of weights for people who want dumbbells in their house. Instead of having to spend just as much, if not more, on a huge set of dumbbells that take up a ton of room, you can get these and do more things than you ...
Pros: Easy to change dumbbell weight; helpful DVD Cons: Cost; should come with stand
The Bowflex Selecttech 550 Dumbbells allow you to have one pair of dumbbells, but multiple weight levels. They are overall a good product, at a fairly high price. I paid a little under $350 for mine (they were on sale), and that included me ...
Pros: Easy to use, comfortable grip, flexible and space saver Cons: Price, dials are rigid and sometimes stick
I wasn't sold on the Bowflex Selecttech Dumbbells at first for a few reasons. Primarily because of the price, which came in around $399.99, although I picked mine up for $349.99 (not a boast of my amazing shopping skills). I jokingly told my wife that ...
Pros: Convenient, space saving Cons: high shipping cost, expensive
These dumbells are best in line. I bought these in the last August from their website. It's much better than having 5 individual dumbells with different weights. It's really convenient because spacesaving, and the weights can be adjusted very ...
Pros: Space saving design! Cons: You will get tired from wanting to work out!
The Bowflex Selecttech Dumbbells are the future for dumbbells! Space saving design is the selling point for the new Dumbbells. Now it does not matter if you want to go to the gym or stay home your able to have them any where! I know that a lot of people ...
Pros: The have many different weights levels. Cons: Sometimes the weights will fall off.
This elite set of Bowflex dumbells, is a great addition to the home gym weight set. The really great attribute about them is that they can have different weights put on the same dumbell set. So, you do not have to buy different weights, which in the ...
Pros: Space savings, grip, design, versatility. Cons: Price if you do not get the stand included.
I bought these as a way to save space in my home workout room. They work great!! I used to belong to a gym for years and am very familiar with other equipment. Would I put these in a gym for everyday meat head use? No. They are not designed to withstand ...
Pros: They have the bowflex name. Cons: They are EXTREMELY cheap in design, and VERY expensive.
These things are junk. I just bought the Selectech 1090's, along with the 5.1 bench, and the 2-1 stand. I thought that since they carried the Bowflex name, they would carry the quality I have come to expect from Bowflex (I also have a Bowflex Power Rod ...
Very convenient dumbbells for home gyms. by judista ,Oct 01 '09
Pros: A must for home gyms. Very comfortable and convenient. Cons: A bit expensive
Convenient dumbbells for home gyms, that don't require a lot of space. 2 dumbbells replace a whole dumbbell rack, while setting the weight is possible. Very comfortable and solid dumbbells. Perfect for mass gaining/ toning exercises for the chest, back, shoulders, arms and legs. No needs for a gym membership if you own those !!!
Pros: Great space saver for the time they work. Cons: They break! A waste of space once they break.
I've had the dumbbells over two years now and feel when they worked, they worked great. Unfortunately, after about 1 year the individual weights began to fall out; very dangerous if you work out barefoot!
Soon thereafter, the locking mechanism stopped "clicking" into place; then I noticed a jingle sound from the mechanism. It turned out that some ball bearings in the mechanism had come loose. Eventually, the handle became useless.
I called customer service and without a problem they sent me a replacement handle that worked fine.
Now, after another 9 months the second of the original handles developed the same problem. Out of warranty and it will cost $56.00 to replace the handle.
I can't use the weights because I don't trust that the weight plates won't fall out durting use and land on my feet or head!
Obviously there is a design flaw in the handles and I can't recomend these weights.
Bowflex Select Tech Dumbells Are Useless by titan369 ,Mar 20 '09
Pros:There are no pros with a piece of junk that you can not use. Cons:Flawed Design that boflex will not aknowledge.
I have a very expensive set of selectech 1090 dumbells that are useless. I have had them for a couple of months and due to a flawed design which boflex refuses to aknowledge they are unable to be used. The problem is the release mechanisim in the cradle breaks completely off after minimal use so you can not turn the knobs anymore. I contacted Boflex this morning and they would do nothing except for offer to sell me new cradles. If I buy new cradles now I will be buying more in a couple of months when they fall apart. Where does the madness end. The people at Boflex don't care so don't ge yourself stuck with junk like I did. Save some money and get some good old fashion iron!!!!!
Pros: There are none when you can't use them Cons: They have a flawed design
