    Cons: Much too expensive

  • Nice Machine but problem with Leg Curl unit

    Nov 26, 2012 by
    Not yet rated.
Pros: - Relative to other Bowflexes it's compact in terms of space required.
Cons: - The leg Extension/Leg Curl unit has a fundamental design problem.

Summary: I decided to buy a used Bowflex Ultimate (U) as an upgrade to my Power Pro (PP). The reason I wanted to do this upgrade were several as follows:1) My PP didn't have the lat tower and there's no way to just by the lat tower feature as the product ... read more

    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: I can't say one thing.
Cons: too expensive for what you are actually getting.

Summary:   BUYER BEWARE!! equipment is cheap and low quality. I spent $1300 to buy a Treadclimber. The day I got it, I assembled my equipment and immediately realized how cheap it was. I decided right then and there that I did not want it. The "treadles" ... read more

Cons: pulley changes take getting used to (not a problem with the ultimate 2)

Summary: I recently purchased a used bowflex ultimate... I couldn't bring myself to buy one new since they were about $2300 CDN but after a quick web search I found one for $1200 CDN with the rubber mat and the iTrainer software. (there's always somebody that ... read more

  • My Bowflex Ultimate experience - After 5 months of use

    May 29, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Well built, configurable, flexible, good instruction
Cons: No cardio option, inconsistent resistance across rods, storage size

Summary: I read many reviews here before ultimately deciding to buy my Bowflex Ultimate. My wife's trainer uses an Ultimate 2 as part of her setup and loves it, but I was unsure about what type to buy or if Bowflex (or a home gym at all, for that matter) was the ... read more

Pros: Portable complete strength training home gym. Very sturdy with many exercises.
Cons: Expensive. You must be a dedicated strength trainer to need this machine.

Summary: I purchased a Bowflex Ultimate with all the bells and whistles in July 06 from the Home Fitness Club. They had a sale that included all the extras, floor mat, free weight scale and I added 100 bucks for the rod upgrade; brings total weight to 410 ... read more

  • The best Bowflex, worth the extra $ if you want more options

    May 16, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Effective. Minimal space required. Good value. Durable; safe to use, no spotter needed.
Cons: Not much. Prices down, resistance different but equal to free weights.

Summary: First, I want to bring up the effectiveness of the Bowflexes, from the Ultimate to the Elite to the Sport. I mention this because upon reading the reviews you'll invariably find some who disparage it for several reasons. As a long-time weightlifter who ... read more

  • Safest, Most Effective Home Workout

    Apr 2, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Safe, effective, versatile, quiet, well built.
Cons: Expensive (but you get what you pay for) and Aerobic Rowing is pretty useless.

Summary: This is the best home gym option in my opinion unless you have a spotter available at home at all times. A freeweight workout with a spotter at a gym is better, but I wanted to work out at home. Freeweights at home alone is the best value but very dicey ... read more

Pros: Sturdy; Compact; No spotter needed; Changing resistance is easy; Lots of exercises.
Cons: Expensive; Limitations on some exercises; Not enough resistance for heavy lifters.

Summary: Like many people, I thought the Bowflex was typical infomercial junk...until I tried a PowerPro on display at a local Fitness Depot outlet. The salesperson was very helpful and let me spend almost an hour testing the machine out in every way I could ... read more

    Pros: Simple To Use, Features
Cons: Poor Aerobics, Moderate Weight Resistance

Pros: Quality of machine, Ease of exercises
Cons: Takes up a good amount of space when in use

Summary: I've had my Bowflex Ultimate XTLU for about 2 months now and this is one of the best investments I've ever made. I was in high school when Bowflex first came out and I was not in to lifting or strength training at all. With all the exercise crazes that ... read more

  • BOWFLEX ULTIMATE- Great Machine, much better than PowerPro

    Sep 9, 2003 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Convenient, great full body exercise machine.
Cons: Expensive (but worth it). Takes more space than you'd expect, especially with leg attachment on.

Summary: I had a Bowflex PowerPro for about 1 year. I liked the machine for upper-body workouts but thought it was very weak for lower body. The leg attachment is fine for toning, but to truly get a lower body workout, you've got to push some serious weight. I ... read more
