Pros: Lots of features; lifetime warranty on the bows; effective.
Cons: The bow resistance takes getting used to. You have to move the bows.

Summary: I got an e-mail asking for advice regarding the Ultimate 2 by Bowflex. I had reviewed the Ultimate but the reader couldn’t find a review by me of the 2. So I decided to do a formal review because others may be wondering what the differences are ... read more

Pros: Almost 100 exercises, easy on the joints, impressive construction, movable and foldable if necessary.
Cons: Larger than it appears in the ads, attachments are not easy to put in place.

Summary: First, the logistics:  I bought my bowflex locally and went to pick it up and was overwhelmed by the amount of boxes (15) that it came in.  When I brought it home and put it together (took me approx 7 hours) I was fascinated by how large ... read more

Cons: Poor packaging. Difficult assembly. Customer service cant be trusted to process refunds correctly.

Summary: I made the plunge in 2005 and ordered the Bowflex Ult 2. Before ordering, the salesman at Bowflex main office told me: 1) I could assemble it myself 2) It would take me about an hour. When the equipment arrived it became apparent that: 1) Most ... read more

  • Hardware in box 5!!!!!! Assembly was difficult but the ultimate 2 is great!!!!!

Pros: Great workout, the attachments are worth the additional cost. Very smooth mechanical motion.
Cons: Heavy assembly time, 10 to 14 hours! The hardware is in box 5~!

Summary: The assembly was the worst thing about this machine. I am a single, stay-at-home mother who built the thing myself. I was able to do it all in a period of a week, working on and off on it for a few hours each day. The only thing I was NOT able to do ... read more

Pros: Works every muscle you can think of from every possible angle.
Cons: Large machine - needs lots of room. Lengthy construction.

Summary: I've seen reviews compare the Ultimate to the Ultimate 2. You can't compare them. In my opinion, they should have given this model an entirely new name - it's that superior. I owned a standard Bowflex for several years, and although I liked it, I ... read more
