Pros: Good shave, reasonable price, good hard travel case, rinse to clean Cons: Charging time, no space in case for oil, no current adapter
Bought this after using a Braun Pocket Twist Plus. I loved the Pocket Twist for emergency shaves and touch-ups, so when I wanted to ditch my blade completely, I looked to Braun.
The 5610 uses a pivoting head, but I really think a fixed head...
Pros: Flexible head can be rinsed under running water, hard travel case, rechageable-cordless. Cons: Works okay at trimming sideburns.
First, I am not a regular electric razor user. I prefer a good wet razor blade and Kiehl's Flying Blue Eagle Shave Cream. I bought this razor as a replacement for my older corded Braun that was over 20 years old and still working great, but the foil ...
Long shave time, poor shave quality by beech19 ,Mar 03 '06
Pros: Good battery life. Cons: Very long shave time, poor shave quality, noisy
My wife bought me this razor as a gift after I told her I would like to try a Braun. After using this razor for several months, I will not buy another Braun. The surface area of the foil/cutter is small and this results in a very long shave time. The quality of the shave is very poor if you have a heavy beard. The trimmer does not work very well. The razor is also very noisy. Otherwise, the overall quality is good, the battery charge life is good and, the charge time is short.
Pros: Solid feel, adequate sideburn trimmer, nice travel case Cons: Doesn't do a good job on longer stubble
A few years ago I decided to go electric and received a Norelco triple-head razor. It was a wonderful shave, but the charging base rusted out and I couldn't find a replacement. So I looked again at a Norelco, but decided to try a foil razor. I went for the Braun Flex XP 5610.
It felt solid in my hands with not too much vibration. The first couple of shaves were pretty good as I decided my face needed to adjust to a different razor style.
I usually don't shave on Saturdays, since I don't really need to be anywhere. So on Sunday, with a full-day's growth behind me, I set to shave off the fuzzy beast. Yikes!!! It took a while to make a dent on the stubble, and it really never gave me a clean shave. I had to finish with my old Gillette.
When used on a daily basis, the shave is good, but not as good as my old Norelco triple header.
I think when this razor falls by the wayside, I am going back to Norelco.
I misplaced my old Braun... by scottyo_dt3000 ,Nov 30 '02
I misplaced my old Braun razor (3600 series) for a few days and had to revert to using a blade.
It had been years since I've used a blade and now I remember why. My face was sore, along with a couple little cuts that took hours to stop bleeding. I found my old Braun (3600 series) but little did I know, would only enjoy it a little while longer as it got a hole in the foil, exposing the blade, causing it to scratch my face.
I opted to upgrade rather than buy a new foil and cutter. My choices came down to the Braun 5610 and the Norelco 5810. I chose the Braun since my face was already used to the foil type razor vs. the 3 rotating head style.
A couple other reasons for choosing the Braun 5610 were that it can be washed under hot tap water, which makes cleaning much easier. It also has a hard case, which is nice because I often shave in the car and the hard case protects the foil and cutter.
I'd recommend the 5610, over the 5612.
Had One for Five Years and it's Still Running Strong! by sean46953 ,Sep 22 '09
Pros: Inexpensive, quality built, last forever, awesome shave! Cons: NONE! Especailly when you consider the price!
I bought the Braun 5610 back when I was around 17 years old, rather new to shaving. Well, here I am at 22 and it runs just as it did when I first bought it. I've had to replace the cutter blocks and foils, but that should be expected with any electric razor. It's always provided a nice quick, clean shave! If this thing ever does die (I fear this day) I'll surely reach right for another Braun!
