I have had a number of Braun razors over the years and they've all been the best of the best: Best shave, best ergonomics, best overall design and very reliable. However, you had better hope that it doesn't fail. A friend of mine bought one on my recommendation at Xmas time and it failed after about 20 minutes of use - and I believe this was just a fluke - but what's disappointing is that it's more than 4 months later and they haven't repaired it yet. He's had 5 telephone calls, filled with endless excuses and even a promise of a new razor but it's mid-June now and he still doesn't have either the new razor or his old razor back. THIS IS TOTALLY UNREASONABLE.

I bought on the hype that it was the best shave ever. Don't get fooled like I did. This thing is horrible. I have to shave over and over this direction and that direction and my skin is never smooth. When I really need a close shave I still go with my old Norelco Spectra. Don't waste your money!!!!!!!!!!

Have dark hair, prone to five O'clock shadow and a angular face that tests an electric razors abilities.  Used competitors top of the line model for 9 years so comparing the best between the two.  
It is possible to get a very close shave with the Braun but it takes considerably more time.   Over 3 minutes compared with less then two with the competitions.  On a given week with touchups this ads up to 10 minutes additional time taken. Missed hairs along neck line are common even though I've gone over them twice or three times.  Also the razor yanks longer hairs and therefore is more painful to use.  
So in sum, take allot of extra time and this razor is Ok. However, the tendency toward missed hairs in hard to reach places, and time taken do not make it a recommended purchase.

2 days after I ordered this from Amazon, they dropped the price five dollars. I called them up for a price differential credit, which was refused by 2 customer service reps and their supervisors. They said that on September 1, 2008, Amazon had eliminated their 30 day price differential credit policy. When I asked where I could find this change detailed on their site (they have had this policy since Amazon opened), they said it wasn't there.

I wrote to Jeff Bezos. His assistant replied to me, and politely refused the $5 refund. I asked where the updated policy could be found, and was told that since there was no longer such a policy, no mention of it can be found on their website.

I suggest you buy this product from a merchant who is both more upfront about their policies, and more concerned with customer satisfaction, which sadly at one time would have been Amazon.
