Pros: Traction (wet weather, snow, breaking), handling, and price Cons: A Performance tire, not a High Performance tire
In a Nutshell The Bridgestone Potenza G009 is a reasonably priced all-season performance tire, with superior handling, breaking, and traction in all climatic conditions. Looks Commercials for the Potenzas herald ...
Pros: Excellent tire. Handling/ride/traction greatly improved over original equipment tires. Great value. Cons: Only for those who value fuel economy and long life more than their own lives.
It wasn't until I replaced the original equipment tires on my 2002 Tracker (2dr fun machine) and 2004 Colorado (aka: The Dredge)that I realized how much difference a highly rated tire (see TireRack.com) can make. I bought Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 ...
Pros: Ride, tracking, high-speed performance, routine and spirited handling, traction, value, treadwear, and appearance. Cons: Directional design limits rotation options.
When I bought this car back in February 2006, a 1990 Infiniti Q45, the last owner installed a set of Bridgestone Potenza G009s. There were barely a few hundred miles on them, and I drove them home covering over 2000 miles. Now, at 4500 miles, they're ...
Pros: rain handling, smoothness, braking Cons: very hard cornering
I replaced the factory Bridgestone RE92 (just black donuts) with the G009 on a 04 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon. The size I used was 205/55-16. I found much better braking performance, a little different sound on the highway, very smooth ride. Excellent in the ...
One Of The Best All Season Tires by hugoboss78 ,Jan 25 '06
Pros: Excellent dry/wet traction, Good snow traction, Inexpensive, Long lasting Cons: Somewhat noisy on the highway
Currently I have these tires on my 2002 Honda Civic EX coupe to replace the original crappy Firestone tires. I was never a fan of any all season tires in the past when it comes to dry/wet grip but this one is great!!
Dry traction is superb. I can take a fast corner & tires barely screech. Very grippy!! Wet traction is also great. I took my car on the highway to 80mph when it was raining real hard & these tires just cutting through the puddle like a knife. Just very little hydroplane. On the snow, well, for an all season tires, these will do fine on the light snow. I wouldn't recommend it for deep snow though.
My only complaint would probably the noise. It's not ridiculously noisy but it's definitely noisier than my previous Firestone tires.
Pros: Hug the road. Great looking tread pattern. Masculine name. Cons: A bit of road noise but still quieter than the Yokohamas.
Replaced the OEM Yokohama tires on my 2003 Subaru Forester with the Bridgestone Potenza G009s. What a difference. I can actually drive my Forester like it was intended. Cornering, braking, wet, dry....doesn't matter. These tires hold the road. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. I did some research on these tires and was pretty much swayed by all the positive ratings I found at several sources on line and in print. Glad I spent the time.
I had Bridgestone Turanzas before these tires. The Turanzas were a much smoother ride. The G009's provide more traction, especially in the snow. (I live in Utah) While at cruising speeds on the Freeway, the ride is a little harsh. Overall a good tire to consider. Treadwear is better than the Toyos and Yokahomas that I have also had on my car ("00 Maxima). Very impressed with Bridgestone.
Pros: Great in snow, rain, ice Cons: slow, sluggish, boring
I drive a Honda Prelude, a small car with 200hp. I bought these tires to deal with the Chicago winter 2007-2008 which has seen a lot of bad weather, cold, snow/ice. The tires have been great in bad weather. They perform well on snow, ice, rain.
On the other hand, I do not like them in good weather. They seem sluggish and slow compared to performance tires.
My wife tells me that at my age (45) I should worry about safety first, but I also like a faster tire.
So I guess it depends if you want safety or speed.
Pros: Good traction, dry, wet and snow. Cons: Road noise which seems to increase with more miles
I installed these tires on a 2000 Nissan Altima. After 15000 miles, and a Wisconsin winter, I am pleased with the traction on both wet and snow covered roads. My only complaint is the road noise, which seems to be increasingly loud.
