Pros: Makes water taste better Cons: Filters are expensive; Water isn't as tasty as bottled spring water
Here in Texas, we have really hard water. How hard is it? Well if you drop it on your foot, you might break your toe. Ba-dum-bum-ching. Sorry. The point is that with all those extra minerals in the water, sometimes the water just tastes ...
Pros: Clean, cold, and abundance of water is nice Cons: Can be a bit heavy, will crack when dropped, filters are not cheap.
Especially when living in an apartment building, you never know how the pipes are. We picked up this particular Brita because of its size. I had an older one, but it seemed like I had to fill it up after nearly every glass of water. So this one was a ...

The end of corked wine...Brita Water Filter Pitcher to the rescue by sterlingsteele ,Aug 31 '06
Pros: Brita Water Filter removed smell and taste of trichloroanisole(TCA) from corked wine. Cons: None that I can think of.
A few hours ago, I opened a bottle of Buena Vista Pinot Noir. Much to my dismay the bottle was "corked". What is a corked wine you ask? It's when the cork that is used to seal the bottle imparts mold particles to the wine. The result? A bottle of wine that is drinkable, but smells like it was fermented and aged in old sneakers. A musty mix of wet dog, damp basements and well loved sneaker.
Normally, I go straight into the kitchen and pour the entire bottle down the drain, however this time I spied the Brita Water Filter on the counter. Curiosity got the best of me...What would happen if I ran it through the Brita Filter?
So...I did. Much to my surprise when I re-poured the wine the smell was completely gone. The wine was about the same color as it went in and it tasted like a Pinot Noir should. No more funky taste. I was very impressed, and happy that I didn't have to pour it down the drain.
