Broan-NuTone Allure 30 " hood, great asset
by cottagegal ,Mar 30 '08
Pros: Excellent progressive fan speeds. Two Halogen lights light up my life in the kitchen. Cons: NONE
We purchased this Broan-NuTone Allure hood, when we purchased our GE Dual Fuel range, delivered 6/26/05, it has been a great asset to our cooking, especially the halogen lights. Otherwise our central room light is blocked as we attend the stove. The fan is progressive as needed with no changes necessary by the operator, unfortunately we do not have outside venting, but no matter. We paid $300. Having no idea we would purchase a hood fan so expensive, I can only say now that it is worth every penny. The only problem we have had is a wobbly light connection on one of the halogens, which my husband says he can correct. We love it, and hope we do not HAVE to 'buy it again'. Highly recommended. Very Poor Performance
by dcspat ,Jan 09 '08
Pros: Looks great. Cons: Doesn't remove vapors and odors from cooktop. Loud. Poor customer service.
This range hood looks good but if you like a hood that efficiently removes cooking odors and natural/propane gas fumes from the cooktop, it is not for you. I must set the hood on #3 minimum to remove any vapors/steam from the cooktop. The exhaust filters are set too far back to be effective, especially at removing vapors from the front burners. It is also not very quiet set on #3. Broan's outdoor damper/vent is also a disappointment. It is well built, but the damper vent spring is too loose causing it to slam open and closed on windy days. Broan's customer service also didn't seem to care about any of this. Don't bother. Look for a hood with a design with an open intake over the front burners of the stove.
