Pros: Small footprint, Great price, nice print Cons: Difficult to setup as wireless.
I am replacing an HP Laser 5L that finally bit the dust. I have looked at laser printers for some time and wanted one that didn't take up much room and could be wireless so I could print from my laptop when I was most anywhere in the house. I ...

Pros: Easy WiFi setup, fast output, excellent print quality, web browser user interface. Cons: High current drain during printing causes minor lamp flickering.
Printer sharing was a great idea but its days are numbered. You already know how it goes: You're in the family room with a laptop and you need to print something on the printer attached to the desktop in the bedroom that's become the home office. You ...

Pros: -easy to reset -toner save -high quality option -beautiful prints -mac compatable Cons: -necessary network cable not included -toner save defaults to off
I've had this printer for 2 months. I've gone through 3 Samsung printers (1210, 1710, and 2010) all connected through my Airport Express wireless network. They all worked for varying amounts of time, and then started to get buggy, dropping ...

Cheap, simple laser printing for the home
by lapouser ,Oct 20 '08
Pros: - Clear setup instructions/software - crisp text output - price, price, price! Cons: - a bit noisy when printing, but that's a small nit
Wanting a cost-effective way to allow my family to print their documents for school and work because inkjet just doesn't cut it cost-wise, I looked for a networked, b&w laser that came from a reputable company. The Brother HL-2170W met the bill on paper, and I found it for $89.99 from JR.COM (with free shipping!). Now that I have it, I love it! It was easy to set up using the supplied wizard (I set it up as wireless, using the temporary ethernet method), and I had 4 different XP systems loaded with the driver within 15 minutes. The output is clean, and the jobs print quickly. It has been taken to task by others because its graphical output isn't considered optimal, but my plan is to continue to use my inkjet for high-def output. Time will tell whether it's as cost effective or as reliable as I hope that it will be, but I never expected to get a laser printer of this quality for under $100.

Great upgrade from the old inkjet(s)...
by scottus ,Jul 18 '09
Pros: convenient placement, can use linksys's secure easy setup for pairing with router(one button) Cons: single sided, cats love to sit on it (warm when its on)
I have had many printers(5 not counting this one) best one so far, was an easy choice once i realized i didnt really like printing in color anyway...fast printing, convenient placement, wirelessly on a corner shelf nowhere near computer(s), and easy to share, four computers at the moment without a hitch. had to reinstall drivers a couple of times and i lost all the software, brothers website has everything you need to get back up and running, only thing i'll do different next time is get the double sided printer, i really hate seeing all that blankness on the back... all in all...cant go wrong here..
