Pros: Reliable, Low Cost machine & consumables, fast scanning, good paper handling. Best bang for $ Cons: None. This machine is a home run!
The Brother Intellifax 4100 does an all around outstanding job. Faxing is a critical task for a mortgage broker. I have tried just about all of the major machines on the market for the last 20 years and I would argue that there isn't better machine ...

The time to upgrade is now
by nikitypits ,Jan 20 '05
Pros: Print quality, speed, clarity of manual, cost Cons: None so far
I finally took a look at the actual cost involved with my old fax machine which printed on thermal paper. It was about 3 to 4 times the cost per page of this model. In addition, due to fading of thermal prints, I then had to make a photocopy anything I wanted to retain, again increasing the cost. Within 10 minutes of opening the box, I had the machine set up and working. The instruction manual was clear, the print quality is excellent, its quick, and if there are any glitches, I haven't found them yet.

Clutch problem
by dbow77 ,May 25 '05
Pros: Good machine (when it working) Cons: Repair it for $125 or toss it and buy a new one for $200.
The clutch can in these new machines can not be cleaned and repaired like in some of the older machines. The service charge to replace the clutch is $100 in my area plus $22 for parts.

Nice fax machine, can't read display
by techsupport42 ,Jul 24 '07
Pros: Laser. Easy config. Fast for the money. Cons: Can't read LCD.
This is a good laser class fax for the money. Sends, receives, and prints with good quality and speed. The LCD is too flat and is unable to be read, unless you are over 6 feet tall. We have the fax machine on a counter with several other brands. This is the only one you can't read. Other than that, it is a solid laser fax for the money.

Review of this printer
by dxu33 ,Feb 13 '05
Pros: efficient, fast Cons: too complicated
A very good printer that prints extremely fast and efficiently. I was very satisfied with my buy. I bought this for my college work and I have found that it has been extremely effective.
However, there was so many functions that it was toooo complex to use. I oculd use it because I am a tech wiz but all my friends couldn't!!!

Great Value
by beaney ,Mar 19 '08
Pros: Great value; reliable equipment Cons: no cons.
Excellent choice for small business use. Easy setup and easy to use. 3 years and zero problems... would be happy to replace with the same unit versus repairing, with this track record.

Still Running Strong
by bandersnatch2 ,Oct 18 '09
Pros: Versatile. Reliable. Low cost per page. Cons: Prints a tad crooked (about 2 degrees off). Not a big problem.
Have had 4100e for three years now. No jams or repairs yet. Reliable. Very low cost per page. Have been able to find toner on sale frequently at half price. Now use 4100e primarily as phone and a B&W computer printer and conveneient small run copy machine as email has taken the place of the majority of faxing. Easy speed dialing and group fax capability. Can be purchased for under $200 new.

Brother Fax - 4100e
by mrsubb ,Jul 02 '09
Pros: Fast and quiet when it was working. Modem speed and memory were exceptional Cons: Life of machine less than 15,000 pages. Support weak.
We are a small business that sends/receives approximately 300 fax pages per week. We bought this fax machine because of good reviews. 11 months after purchasing a gearing problem occurred. We contacted Brother and they made us buy a new drum assembly even though we had installed a new one 6 weeks earlier. $120 cost. It did not solve the problem. Brother sent us a refurbished machine as a replacement with a 30 day warranty on it. The same problem happened after 41 days to the refurbished machine. Brother basically said they could do nothing about it. Cost to fix machine was approximately cost to replace.
