Pros: It sews.....eventually Cons: Hard to understand directions, glitches in parts, not very versatile
I remember learning to use a sewing machine in school eons ago. It happened to be an ancient manual Singer with the rocker pedal. No frills, straightforward and easy to use. My sisters and I made all our own clothes back then on a similar machine at ...
Pros: Easy to operate. Easy to clean. Easy to oil. Easy to thread. Cons:
You have to take the storage comaparment off to change the Bobbin
The Brother LS-2125 Mechanical Sewing Machine is a great machine for people whom have just started the hobby. The Sewing Machine Comes with, 3 replacement needles,a screwdriver, 3 extra bobbins, a regular presserfoot, a zipper foot, and a ...
Pros: Lots of goodies, great for the price, easily set up and used Cons: The bobbin case continuously caught and tangled the thread mid-stitch
This handy machine comes with: three presser feet (regular, zipper, buttonholes), a darning plate, three bobbins, a needle set, an extra spool pin, and a screwdriver. I found all three very nifty, and quite honestly I wasn't expecting goodies so I found ...
Pros: Low price Cons: Difficult to operate, doesn't work half the time, lack of functions
I decided I wanted to purchase a sewing machine that I could use for easy garment and home decor sewing projects. I saw this machine at Wal-Mart for $78 and I figured I would buy it since I didn't need one of the more expensive machines with loads of ...
Pros: It was inexpensive and it had the basic things I needed. Cons: It had the most confusing directions separated from the illustrations!
I am 40 something years old and wanting some new window treatments without spending an arm and a leg, so I purchased the inexpensive Brother LS-2125 at a "superstore" with the intention of teaching myself to sew. If I am given adequate instructions I ...
Pros: Easy to set up and use Cons: the stitches are short even on the long stitch setting.
I bought this for myself in an attempt to make my own curtains. I have never really messed with a sewing machine before, but I figured out that I would save money on them even with buying the sewing machine. It was easy to understand the manual. I had ...
unimpressed with the Brother LS-2125 Mechanical Sewing Machine by icufodu2 ,Feb 02 '07
Pros: light, inexpensively priced, variety of sewing stiches, easy ONCE you figure out the instructions Cons: plastic construction won't last long. Loud when in use. Not for seasoned sewers.
The instructions were hard to follow given that four different languages appear on each page. The instructions also weren't clearly written, so left a great deal to the imagination.
Making bobbins was easy, but the bobbin itself doesn't get entirely full, so you need to make a few extra for projects. Figuring out how to thread the machine took forever.
The machine sounds choppy and rather unstable when in use.
The instructions also touted that you could do dual-needle sewing. Instructions were given in regard to how to load the second needle. Too bad the needle holder on the machine is designed to hold only 1 needle at a time.
The machine is light on the pocket book and to carry but I suspect that it isn't designed to last. I think I will sink the money into breathing new life into my 50 yr old White sewing machine.
Pros: Solid but lightweight machine, easy to use, nice stitching. Cons: None so far.
I was looking for a machine to replace my 30 old Singer that died of natural causes. I read the reviews on Amazon.com and found them favorable. I was nervous when I read the bad reviews here, but went to Walmart and bought this machine anyway. I have 90 days to try it and return it if I don't like it. The saleslady told me to read the instructions carefully when threading the machine. I took my time and made bobbins and threaded the machine with no trouble at all. I tried all the different stitches and everything works perfectly. So far, I am very happy with this machine and would highly recommend it for simple sewing of clothing, and mending.
looks nice, but i can't understand the instructions? by corkus12 ,Mar 16 '06
Pros: its light weight and easy to carry Cons: its just to bad i cant understand the directions better.
I am just starting sewing and i bought this machine. the lady at Wal-mart made it sounds easy, got it home couldn't understand how to thread it.. worked on it for hours and gave up. still don't know how to thread it...
Pros: Lower in cost, simple to use, lightweight, good for small projects Cons: Doesn't handle thick fabrics, but I really wasnt expecting it to...
I went into Walmart with the intent of buying a different machine, one which I had already seen reviews on. Unfortunately they did not have the one I wanted so I bought this one, really not knowing anything about it. When I came home I looked it up on this site and a few others ones and got nervous because of several bad reviews but when I set it up I have to say I was very please. I found the set up instructions very simple and easy to follow. The machine works great. I tried a few different fabrics and stitches and all worked well. The only thing that it didnt do was very thick fabrics, but for the price I should have expected that. Overall I am 90% satisfied in general.
This sewing machine is for people who have once a year projects. NOT for regular use!! Handles badly. You would be better off paying a little bit more for a much better machine. I would recommend Kenmore for medium users.
Nice Machine But Poor Instructions by boot-wizard ,Jul 28 '05
Pros: Well constructed and highly functional at a low price. Cons: Difficult to thread and lacks adequate instructions.
The Brother LS-2125 appears to be a very capable and well constructed machine for basic sewing needs. However, it took me several hours to get started due to some critical oversights in the owners manual. The instructions are provided in three languages... each of which does not properly explain how to correctly thread this machine!
Consequently, given that this is a machine for beginners, it is likely that you will get very frustrated trying to make that first stitch.
My advice is to purchase the machine, try it yourself then call Brother's customer service department for help.
But don't throw the baby out with the bath water. As I said, it is a very nice machine. In fact, it is likely to be capable to keep a beginning machine sewer busy and happy for thousands of hours.
Here are two other tips. First, be sure to use throw-away fabric for testing. It will get oily and beat-up. Second, use extreme caution when getting started. Keep your hands and fingers away from the needle as your frustration builds.
Pros: Inexpensive, and worked well at first. Cons: Broke after three light uses.
This machine lasted my daughter three sessions, using light fabric. It will no longer feed fabric at all, and bunches thread like crazy. I know something about tensioning, and no manner of adjustment to the top or the bobbin would fix it-- I suspect the timing slipped, and the feed mechanism slipped. Probably neither, which are held with screws, were properly tightened at the factory.
I attempted warranty service, but had lost the receipt (purchased at Walmart). Per the service directions I called Brother. Despite the fact that we identified the machine production date from its serial number, which was well within the warranty period, Brother stated that since the receipt was lost, they could not honor the warranty.
I will not buy another Brother sewing machine based on this treatment, and that they would sell such a low durability machine.
Pros: It looks good, but that is it! Cons: This machine aggravates me so much! I have nothing but trouble with the bobbin.
I bought this machine at Walmart because it was cheap. You get what you pay for! I would never buy this brand again! I had nothing but trouble with the bobbin. It kept falling out.
I would not suggest this one for beginners or even beginner to medium users. Very difficult to thread and use. It was not very much fun for grandma to teach her 10 year old granddaughter to sew because it was so difficult to thread we never got to sew.
