Pros: easy to operate, printout is high-quality, average priced toner cartridges Cons: scanner is feed-through
There I was, about to quit my job and start consulting from home. My dear old Epson Action Laser 1500 was on its last legs. It had served me well for ten years! They don't make ‘em like they used to.... But I digress, as I needed a new laser ...
Pros: Inexpensive, good output for a while, convenient access to copying. Cons: Doesn't last.
INTRODUCTION This review is generally negative. The printer worked well for a while, but suffered from not lasting. The warranty is 1-year and my printer is suffering in quality at year 2. Print yields aren't as good as advertised and toner/drums are ...
Pros: Printing, scanning and faxing quality Cons: Printing speed, paper tray acceptance
Why I Purchased This Machine We had been using an HP Deskjet 842c inkjet printer, HP 2300c scanner and an old Brother film fax machine. Needless to say we were outdated for our business. The HP inkjet was slow, the HP scanner had become ...
Pros: Durable, reliable, easy to use, toner lasts a while. Cons: Doesn't hold much paper, Some loss of quality when scanning or copying
I use my Brother mainly for one or two page prints but on several occasions I've printed 300 page shop manuals. I like the small size and ease of use. The paper is easy to load (but it doesn't hold much -- if you buy a ream of paper you'll have plenty ...
Pros: low price, acceptable print quality, small footprint for a multi-function machine Cons: lacks several desirable features, including off switch and separate tray for envelopes
I purchased a Brother MFC 4800 to replace a perfectly functional 5-year-old Brother MFC 4550 that wouldnt work with my new laptop, which has no parallel port. (Parallel-to-USB converter cable didnt work.) While the unit is compact and the ...
Pros: Reliable laser printer and fax machine for two years. Cons: Replacing the printer drum costs approximately 75% of the cost of the entire machine.
I operate my own consulting business and my Brother MFC4800 has been a great assistant for 2 years. Now though, it prints very faintly. The techies at Brother gave me a few things to try before stating that I need a whole new drum, i.e. the thing that ...
Pros: sharp output, ultra quiet Cons: does not work with XP
I bought the brother about 2 months ago as I needed to replace my old HP laserjet and HP Scanner as well as an old fax machine. The unit is compact and has a USB cable.
I initially used it with Win 98 and it worked great. Very easy to use. However...
Pros: Low price, works great for about 6 - 9 months Cons: Drum goes bad in 6 - 9 months. Drum not covered by warranty.
The Brother MFC-4800 should be called the disposable multifunction printer, because it works well for 6 to 9 months, and then the drum goes bad. The cost of a replacement drum is just a little less than a brand new machine. I bought my first MFC-4800 ...
Pros: Has worked well and generally been a good product. Cons: cheap crap replacement cartridges can cause poor printing quality. Some jamming.
Generally good device and my review is positive. However, printer cartridge replacements are cheap, low quality crap. Easy to setup and copies well. Prints quite well, if you get a decent cartridge. Fax setup and menus are OK. Scanner is OK, nothing great. Paper handling is just adequate as when it gets low on paper it jams.
Pros: has a good appearance Cons: doesn't print worth a crap
this product works great if you are faxing, but it is worthless as far as a 'laser printer'. i have had this product since december 2004 and it is now august 2005 and i have replaced the ink already and it still does a terrible job. i am going to replace this as soon as possible with another brand.
Pros: WorkHorse, Lasts forever, Easy to use all functions. Cons: Occasional paper jam.
Had unit for over 7 years, no problems. Multiple uses and never problems. I would recommend this to anyone, especially a small office. Worth every penny I spent back then.
Perfect fax for the "small" business by sbocook ,Jul 16 '04
Pros: ease of use Cons: cost of the drum and cartridges, rarely jams
My former boss gave me this fax machine. He gave it to me once the drum needed replacing. The drum costs $80-$130 depending on where you get it. Brother says the average drum lasts 4-6 months with daily normal use. It lasted us over 8 months. It however seemed to go through the ink cartridges monthly. The ink cartridge cost about $30. We used the fax machine ALOT but with normal "small" business use this will be a really inexpensive fax to buy and own. I haven't replaced the drum yet but do plan on doing it and using the fax for what little faxing I do at home. It was free so I'm already ahead.
Pros: Good quality Cons: Ink Runs out, not able to find ink in stores easily
This printer has made my life so much easier. Instead of driving to the copy center or anywhere that faxes things, I can do it in my own home. The quality is great, and it works well for me.
Worked well for 3 days...now... by hb917_dt3000 ,Feb 04 '03
Worked well for 3 days...now having tons of problems with printing. Pulls too many pages through at one time. Sometimes will not print multiple copies of the same document. Quality of print is great. Customer support is awful.
