Pros: Fast, easy to use, cost effective. Cons: It's louder than some printers, but not bad
I'm a plumbing design engineer that works from my home office. One night (I had a project due the next morning), my regular printer, my old H

Pros: Fast scanning & printing, very competitive price, easy setup, network interface built-in Cons: A little noisier than other laser printers.
Over the years I have had my share of experience with various Brother printers and MFC units. Before buying a color laserjet printer, I purchased a Brother inkjet multifunction machine. I don't do a lot of color printing, so at the time, it was a ...
Pros: Good Home Office Multi-Function Machine That Prints Great Copies and Doesn't Use Much Toner Cons: A Bit Noisy When Printing, Not a Heavy-Duty Multiple Office Network Printer.
I bought the MFC-8460N at Costco about 6 months ago for $370. Previously, we had a HP multi-function inkjet. The main problem with that machine was the price of replacing the ink. Six months later after purchasing this machine, I have not had to replace ...
Pros: Fast, easy to use, feature-laden Cons: Design flaw produces excessive noise, Brother refuses to satisfactorily address
Having previously purchased an MFC 8820 and and MFC 8840 I felt comfortable with adding this machine as the third unit for the office. As with the other two units setup and configuration was simple and straightforward and it took only a few minutes to ...
Pros: Function, price, Brother name. Cons: PC faxing but I intend to look into that. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.
I waited a few weeks before I thought I would write down my impressions for the Multi-Function Printer. I wanted to familiarize myself with all the bells and whistles. Packaging. 9/10 Nicely packaged in a sturdy cardboard box with Styrofoam ...
Pros: monochrome, AIO, R-45 jacked, TBD Cons: watts @ sleep too high, busy delay too long, TBD
After my previous review of the HP family fun we've had over the years I was over a knife's edge with my better-halfs business needs.Having read probably too many reviews I got OD'd on info for several of the major Multi-functions out there. This ...
Pros: Fast, compact (but tall), multi-purpose tray Cons: None so far
I print a lot of checks and envelopes. So I wanted a all-in-one laser printer with a multi-purpose (bypass) infeed tray. You would be surprised to know there are not too many lasers with a multi sheet bypass infeed. I saw a Canon, but it needs access ...
Brother Multifunction laser printer by pgeorges ,Sep 13 '06
Pros: Simple to use, very fast, smooth software, very network friendly. Cons: It's only black and white -- but then that is what we wanted.
Acquired this printer a couple of months ago and placed on our network with 5 machines. We print about 1,000 pages a month and this printer handles all the printing and faxing superbly whereas we had three devices before. We now print at about a true 25 pages/minute versus about 4 before on a deskjet. This machine truly multi-functions able to fax and copy at the same time. A surprise was the speed of the scans (auto feed works) into files on any selected PC. Another surprise was a truly functioning OCR package that gets pretty all the conversion correctly something we haven't had before. An impressive machine for a very reasonable price.
A good choice for a small office by rustyreddog ,Jan 09 '07
Pros: Easy set up - Low capital cost - Reasonable per print cost at 12,000/yr. Cons: Tray selection protocols take a bit of trial and error to get right.
I bought this unit on Saturday from Staples Canada. I was somewhat worried about a few of the bad reviews especially about the problems feeding envelopes. I have now run over 2000 copies and found the machine to be all it is advertised to be. Even my envelopes print without a hitch. Some of the tray selection commands could be better explained but overall this machine produces better copies than the HP 3380 and for less money. The cost per copy is good, as is the speed but don't expect 30 copies per minute if you are running re-prints of 50 or so. As the machine heats up, it slows a bit to allow for cooling. Still, it is faster than my old Cannon NP 6012.
When I look at the total 4 year cost of owning and using this machine running about 12,000 copies/yr., it beats the HP 3380, the Kyocera KM 1820, The Ricoh AC 205 and the Panasonic DP 1520. All in, even with a 4 yr. ext. warranty, this machine leaves more cash in my pocket.
Pros: Does all your multi-function needs very well for just a little more than a non-laser. Cons: No color equal that has the same reviews and performance.
Never have any problems with this unit. Prints, scans and faxes very well. Not much to say but I like it way better than the HP products I've tried because the software isn't intrusive and buggy.
Great small office all-in-one by bkade ,Dec 20 '07
Pros: Price
Speed
Print Quality
Scan quality and speed
Ease of use Cons: slight crease in envelopes, even when set for envelope as media.
I was looking an all-in-one laser that scans, copies and prints with fax available for backup use.
My priorities were:
price
lifetime cost per copy
quality
ease of use
This machine is a winner on all counts.
30 pages per minute means just that. I timed the output on a regular print job and one copy comes out every 2 seconds. you can set your watch by it.
Although I have only had it a couple of weeks and haven't run out of the initial cartridge yet, it appears to be very easy to refill and supplies are available on E-bay.
The print and scan quality is excellent.
Glad I bought this machine and recommend it.
