Pros: It's a great idea! One all women would love to have working in their favor. Cons: It just doesn't cut the pie. Stick with what you've got.
How it all began:I absolutely fell in love with these bumpits the first time I saw them. I've teased, rolled, and poofed my hair for years so a break for my hair while maintaining the bumps captured my eye ...
Pros: Works exactly as advertised Very easy to use Durable Reasonably priced Cons: Needs an auburn color to make picking a color easier, but light brown worked great!
I have tried to add volume and height to my fine, thin hair a zillion different ways with mixed results,so when I saw these on tv, I thought, hmm..here's another product that probably doesn't work.I spend some time check around. I ALWAYS research ...

Don't Waste Your Money On Bumpits! by used2flyn ,Feb 05 '09
Pros: Nice packaging Cons: Unusable product that isn't practical enough to even be considered a fad.
The idea of creating volume with Bumpits was a tantalizing concept. I saw Bumpits on the Rachael Ray Show in the Human Lab segment. I had no idea what they actually looked like but since I wanted some fullness I took the bait and ordered a set. In order to even be able to use the Bumpits you need to have very thick hair and coarse hair would work best. In other words, the type of hair you need to use these things would also negate the need to use them. The Bumpits are hard plastic and very "spiney" with teeth on the side that faces the scalp and the side that faces up. Painful and hard to conceal these things do not look natural. I have fine hair so I had trouble concealing them under my hair and while the packaging is nice the product is a complete waste of money.
Bumpits for a gigantic ripoff by sharprone ,Jul 06 '09
Pros: None Cons: Customer service does NOT exist with this company. Gigantic ripoff!
I meant to purchase a Bumpit for my granddaughter's birthday and accidently ordered 2 - something I didn't realize until I got to the completed order page. In addition, the shipping had jumped from $7.95 for one to $29.80 for 2. I immediately sent an email to their customer service (it was the weekend) and called first thing Monday morning to ask them to send only 1. Austin, the CS person refused in no uncertain terms in spite of the fact that my order had not been shipped and wouldn't arrive for 2 weeks. Furthermore, my American Express hadn't been charged yet, indicating they had time to correct the problem. It would have been so easy to cancel the order and let me order the single one I wanted but no... I wouldn't order it now if it made my hair look like Farrah Fawcett's for the rest of my life! What a greedy rude company! These people only exist to get your money! The box goes back as soon as it gets here.
Bumpits, good idea, needs work by aravynandrea ,Jul 12 '09
Pros: If you take the time, and the hairspray, it does add volume to your hair. Cons: tends to slip, not as good for those with fine hair.
I just bought bumpits and I have mixed opinions. It actually does work... it's not as easy as it looks on tv... but with some effort, it does work.
the problem with this product is... those with flat hair looking for volume will have issues. You need thick hair for this product.
the problem is, if you have thick hair, you really don't need bumpits. those with thick hair can usually obtain height with a little hairspray.
those with fine hair are the ones with flat hair that you need help volumizing, and if you're hair is too fine, it tends to slip out of the bumpits and they don't stay in place that well.
that's my problem. I have inbetween hair. it's straight, thick, but fine. So after a while, unless you really spray it up, the hair slides out, and you can see the comb.
I also notice, you can't shake your head and it will stay in place. it does tend to slip and/or fall out.
So, it does work, just not as easily or as great as they say.
I really like it since its easy to use. by jkennedy83 ,Jun 25 '09
Pros: Easy to use. Blends in your hair easily. Different sizes. Cons: My hair does get stuck in it when taking it out.
Bumpit creates a little drama to your normal everyday hairstyle. I use it without teasing and it works great. It is really easy to use. It does not bother my head while wearing it at work. I really like it.
Pros: I bought mine at Claire's for $12. Cons: No cons.
One of the main reasons I like this product is I have curly hair. It is basically impossible for me to have a "bump" when I style my hair curly. If I back comb, or "tease", it separates the curls and makes it very frizzy. This works great! I am wearing it right now and cannot even feel it's in. Very light weight, but durable. I agree with some of the posters on here, it works well, you just need to learn how to use it correctly. If you WANT you can use two bumpits, but you don't have to. Experiment! I put my bumpit in, and use a little hair spray. I tease it a little on the sides. But it is not way comparable to all the teasing and hairspray I used to have to use. Maybe it just doesn't work with fine hair? I don't know, my hair is medium thick and a little curly.
GREAT PRODUCT - just KNOW HOW to use it by consumexpert ,Jul 01 '09
Pros: i don't even need to use hair spray OR a comb Cons: no offense, but only4 those who gota knack4 hair-do's to correctly use it.
I have flat, slippery, Asian hair and a small head. My head is just way too small for my body, but now I have big body in my hair all the time! tip: know what works for your head and put just the right amount of hair over the top. it really works, you just have to know what you're doing. you have to understand where to slip the device and just how much hair to put over it.
