Pros: the hardware is of good quality. produces high-quality images. Cons: transfers over USB 1.1! absolutely absurd for 2006.
Howdy. I received this scanner as a gift for Christmas, 2005. It was on my Amazon wish list. I did a fair amount of research before deciding on this scanner, but I was negligent with regard to one simple fact: apparently some hardware makers are ...
Pros: Powercordless, light weight Cons: little bit slow with some noise, bad software package
Another light weight device that I like it. Introduction If you are in a quick need to scan something to your laptop or desktop or if you are into travelling and scanning document will be very handy if you use this device. ...
Pros: Scanner software, speed, size, weight, no power supply. Cons: Sometimes buttons do work when scanner and/or PC sleeps.
My Epinions Philosophy When I make a purchase, epinions is one of my most valuable resources for non-biased experiences and information. When I come here to research a product I read all of the reviews and the product specifications and details ...
Pros: Slim design, comes with good picture software (probably because you'll need them...) Cons: Really bad quality, grainy and off-colour scans, takes a long time to scan, screeeeeech,...
I wish I would have had this review when we hurriedly had bought a scanner because our previous HP ScanJet 4200c died. It's already been returned - 3 hours after the purchase! We figured that the Canon name wouldn't steer us wrong - we were so wrong. ...
Pros: Small, Portable. Cons: Nothing I can think of
I have owned a few of these canon scanners, in various models, over the years. I have never had any problems with them at all. They are small, and ultra portable, which is great if you need a high quality scanner 'on the go'. The fact that they are ...
Pros: Good software, easy to use, instant scan-copy-email buttons, no separate power cord req'd Cons: Would not be suitable for high-volume scanning, no sheet-feeder
I ordered this scanner from an online discounter at the recommendation of a friend. It took about 10 min. to get out of the box, set up on my desk, and install the software (included). The directions were easy to follow. The scanner connects to your ...
Pros: Low Price, No Power Cords, Standard USB connection, light weight Cons: No fancy features
This has got to be one of the simplest scanners that I have ever connected to a PC. Using XP Home just plug it in and go!
The software is good to add, but it is up and running just like that.
This scanner unlike all my previous ones uses the USB for power, so you only have one cord to connect. This makes it easy to use with a laptop on the move! There is a latching button underneath to save the mechanism from transport issues.
NO special card to put in a PC, NO special cords, NO power supply, NO special drivers
The software allows you to take advantage of more features, such as using it as part of a copier, making pdf files, a variety of image formats, reconfiguring the buttons when it is connected to your PC, OCR, and email. In conjunction with fax software it can work with the PC modem to fax documents.
Perhaps not the fastest, highest resolution, or most features available, but a solid workhorse for a very modest price. I expect to have a case to use it in the field!

Pros: N/A Cons: This product is flawed and the drivers do not work.
I got this thing and none of the drivers work with XP Pro., even though the box specifically says that it is compatible with XP Pro. Nothing I did changed the fact, and the on-line support conveniently skirts the whole driver problem by telling you to re-install them! I've read, now, a bunch similar complaints about this product and other Canon scanners for that matter. This company has lost any trust I've had for it, which in the end will cost it more than the scanner that I'm returning.
Pros: Cheap. Good quality. Held up better than expected. Flatbed! Cons: Low-end software. Platen too small for legal paper.
Purchased the Canoscan LiDE 25 scanner in early 2008 to transfer photos and paper files to disk. Paid less than $50 new and created about 500 files in the first two months. It has performed flawlessly and is still working fine. Am currently scanning another large batch of documents and realized that it deserved a good review! The included software is somewhat tempermental. However it includes standalone OCR software, and can create multi-page, searchable PDFs without going through an extra OCR process. The scan quality is perfect for documents and photos. The software may not have a preview function (Didn't see it)
Pros: Easy to learn-as-you-go. Inexpensive Cons: Operates at USB 1 speed - even so, it is not a slow scanner anyway.
I purchased the LiDE 25 after reading excellent reports on other sites and in Computer Mags.
I use Windows XP Pro and the scanner installed without a hitch and works perfectly.
An excellent scanner for the first-time buyer as it is so simple to use. It has an excellent software package included.
The comprehensive on-line guides will soon turn a novice/nervous user into a happy/confident user.
Also scans photographs with ease.
Can be used on USB 1 or 2.
