Pros: Good looking, good feel, long enough, able to hit it high and soft Cons: The occasional wild spree
Are you in the market for a new driver but not wanting to spend an amount scarily close to the same you might pay for a new car or house. A few years ago, your options were quite limited. Every club manufacturer was hiking their prices and trying to be ...
Cobra drivers are VERY popular, trusted and loved by hordes of golfers of all shapes and sizes.. and abilities too. During the last 2 years, Cobra has secured a big following by offering the superb SZ series, a 400+ cc set of power monsters that bang ...
Pros: Great value, good distance, very forgiving. Cobra claims biggest sweet spot - I believe them! Cons: Nice sound off the face, but pretty loud. Who designs these headcovers?
NOTE: This review is for the SZ460 which is identical to the SZ440 but with a 5% bigger clubhead. It's amazing to me that the price of a driver just continues to skyrocket, especially when you consider that you only use it 12-14 times in a ...
Pros: GREAT fun to hit, good consistency, HUGE sweet spot, lots of confidence! Cons: For me, none.
Having recently bought a new Great Big Bertha 2+ I had commented that I struggled to work the ball with it and that essentially I didn't recommend or regard it that highly. I'd been looking to change to another driver fairly quickly and I'd spoken to ...
Pros: High ball flight, good distance, and appealing size to mid to higher handicapped players Cons: Takes time to get used to. Needs to be custom fit properly. No instant results
The Cobra 440 sz driver is an extremely fun piece of equipment to play with. With an exceptionally large club face and head, the Cobra 440 sz will bring back confidence to your driving game. I bought this driver a couple of years ago and the size of ...
Pros: Massive distance, very forgiving, accurate, awesome sound. Cons: I wish I'd bought one 3 years ago.
What can I say? Before I got this club I could not drive straight at all. Everything turned right after 50 yards and ended up in another country. The longest drives went 260 yards.
The remedy... bought the Mike Austin Video, worked a bit on my technique, but mainly.... bought one of these.
I was having a lesson. The pro said "Try this" and my next 10 shots carried 280 yards and then rolled on. Since then I usually hit fairways, and very seldom get outdriven. I'm reaching the odd 330 yard green in one, but mainly it means that long irons are few and far between because it's usually no more than a 9 iron at most into par fours. Only a bad mis-hit goes less than 260.
This club, allied to forgiving irons has enabled me to knock 10 shots off my handicap.
Best of all - they are now very cheap. mine was £215 but you can pick them up new these days for under £100.
Before you ask.... no I'm not a PR plant for Cobra, although if they offer me the job I'll take it.
Cobra 440 SZ - Works for me:) by michael_s_king ,May 29 '07
Pros: Lightweight, huge sweet-spot and very forgiving with a comfortable grip. Cons: I don't have any with this club.
I found this club easy to swing in and very controllable. However over-powered swings tend to result in a bad shot. First time out with this club I hit 25 balls and 18 of them were 270 plus.
Pros: Huge Head... More forgiving...Sound of impact is very noticalbe... Cons: BAD STOCK SHAFT
This is by far the best driver I have ever played. It is a mailbox, so to speak. It took me a while to get used to, but i can smoke it down the fairway every time. I'm launching the ball an average of 298 yards. I have a graffaloy X-stiff for a shaft as well. There is not much else to say except it is an awesome driver all the way around. And it's not very expensive either.
Pros: Distance and control. Price for me as I bought it on ebay. Cons: none
I bought my sz440 off of ebay with a firm shaft and oversized grip. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as I am new to golfing. I bought a driver from Walmart as people said when you are new it doesn't matter much. I got comfortable with my swing then tried my friends new Cobra which seemed to be more consistent with greater distance. I bought this driver after reading many reviews and asking alot of questions. I practiced at the range for a few days before actually playing with it on the course and have improved my distance quite a bit. I know people will think I am crazy as many people never drive for great distance but with my old club I could expect 210 yds but as my swing improved and I upgraded my driver I consitently hit 260 to 280 yds straight. I think it has to do with increased swing efficiency and the driver. Overall I love my sz440 and the sound it makes really is fun on the course or range.
Pros: Good weighting
Confidence builder
Excellent Value
Long! Cons: None yet
WOW! This is a really fun driver to hit with. The sound off the face is loud, but it really gives you confidence at the tee. I had been hitting 225 with my old driver, after about 20 minutes at the range getting used to the Cobra I hit between 250-270 consistently! My playing partners are amazed by the distance gain, they all want to play it now! Great club, picked it up new from my local golf pro shop for $235 and glad I did!

Pros: Long distance, controls slices, huge sweet spot Cons: Might make yours friends jealous and your ears hurt.
I am not a good golfer by any definition, but with this club, I ain't bad. I spent six days golfing in Guam and had to rent clubs. I had the opportunity to Demo this club (which I did all six days) and it turned my drive being my weakpoint into my friends envy. I was center fairway almost every drive. I always try to kill the ball and therefore slice like crazy. This club begged me to hit it harder, and all it responded with was more distance (and a loud bang). Due to my slice, I am limited to short, slow drives barely passing 200yds. I was 250+ with this club, one drive was 280. When I came home and used my old driver, my mind was made up. I came home and picked one up on EBAY and anxiously anticipate it's arrival. I used the 10.5 and bought the 9.0 hoping for a little more distance.
