My old sharperimage iron was the first I had ever bought. I thought all irons were like it, needing 30mins to heat up and barely straightening my thick, unruly hair. It's straight but puffy and tends to get a bit wavy. After deciding not to put up with ...

I received this straightener as a gift from my parents about a year ago after they got tired of me using the iron to do my hair. The straightener can be time consuming for people with long thick coarse hair. like myself. but doing my friends hair which ...
For the Thick and Wavy My hair is stubborn. I have a full head of wavy, thick hair. Not to mention, it is hard to style. No matter what new styling tools, gels or shampoos were on the market, they never seem to tame this wild mane of mine. ...

Pros: straitens hair in one pass, low price, heat settings change easily Cons: sometimes will snag hair if you put into to much at once.
I am thrilled with my Conair instant heat. My hair is very similar to that of a horses tail. It's even sorrel colored (auburn for me sorrel for the horse). It's very thick and wavy and unless I've pulled it into a ponytail it looks unkept. I bought the Conair because the price was good and I'm thrilled with the results. Since my hair is so thick it takes time to do all of it but the Conair straightens it in one pass. It leaves my hair smooth and soft and wonderful. I even like the color of my hair better. I like how you can change the settings easily too. I wish I could do more hair at a time but you can't rush perfection so I'll just wake up a half hour more to get soft hair. I think it's worth it.
Pros: Works great! Great price! Cons: The attachments are flimsy.
This straightener is wonderful! My hair is very coarse and very thick. I have to either curl it or straighten it to make it look good at all. Other straightening irons I've tried take 4 or 5 slides down the hair to make it straight and you have to use tiny pieces in order to get all the waves out. This iron takes 1 or 2 slides (3 for really stubborn waves!)and the hair is poker straight. Not to mention you can use bigger pieces of hair so it doesn't take forever. It has 25 different heat settings and gets very hot. It comes with two attachments. One is a little comb to keep hair from sliding out of the iron and the other is a brush for shine. I don't like either attachment as they are pretty flimsy. The comb pulled my hair when I tried to use it. The best bet to using this iron is to brush hair out before sliding the iron down. The only other thing I could see wanting in this iron is a heat proof cap to put on after using so that the iron can be stored without burning anything.
It's big, it's bulky, but it works brilliantly. by nowlistenhere ,Aug 30 '06
Pros: Effective straightening, dual voltage, comb feature, inexpensive Cons: I'd like to see a 1" version for short hair
I have over a dozen hair straightening irons in my possession and have used these styling tools since the mid-70's to iron out the waves in my hair. I have blond, fairly thin hair that is curly, but not kinky. This iron is one I grab first in the morning. It's got a detachable comb -- this is an absolute must for me. My hairdresser advised me to use an appliance with a comb, and I have to agree with her. It makes a real difference to me, and I insist on having this feature now on any hair straightener I purchase. This iron is inexpensive, does a great job, even better than some costing 5 times the price. If I drop it, I don't panic, and I have used it well over a year with no problems. It also has a dual voltage feature that is great for traveling. This is a great styling tool and recommend it for performing so well at such a great price.
