Pros: Affordable.
Simple.
Supports high resolutions.
Cables are built in. Cons: None.
Recently I got a used computer from a family member who upgraded. I planned on using it as a server, but really didn't have the desk space for another computer. So, I decided that I'd get a KVM switch so I'd only need desk space for one monitor. At...

Linksys' KVM2KIT KVM reduces desk clutter.
by peterskm ,Oct 19 '06
Pros: Economical KVM. Does it's job well. Cons: No connections for microphone or speakers (Not really a con, just an inconvenience).
I picked up one of these when a local store had a nice deal on them. I've been using it up until recently which puts my usage at about 3 years. If you have more than 1 PC and don't want to waste space for with additional keyboards, mice, and a monitor, this is for you. The cables are built-in so there is nothing to lose or misplace. Over this time, it has done it's job well. It has an easy-to-use key combination to switch between computers. The device is small and easy to conceal. There's not much more I can say. It is a KVM and it does what it is supposed to.
I recently replaced it with a KVM that has microphone and speaker support (otherwise I'd still be using the Linksys).

- Supports screen resolutions up to 1920x1440.
- Works with all PS/2 keyboards and mice.
- Caps Lock, Number Lock, and Scroll Lock settings are
automatically recalled for each PC.
- Hot-Pluggable.

Ultra cheap and easy to use.
by turbo90awd ,Dec 23 '03
Pros: Small, cheap, fast swapping, toggles with Scroll Lock key. Cons: If there were any, I'd be shocked.
If you have 2 PCs at home and one computer desk to work at, you probably have wanted to get a KVM device to make life easier. The largest problem is getting a device that doesn't cost too much and is easy to operate and connect.
The ProConnect KVM2KIT is about as cheap and easy as it gets. Monitor, KB and Mouse enter the unit and then you connect it's built in cables to the 2 PCs.
Toggling between computers is as easy as pressing "Scroll Lock" twice. It never leaves you stranded without your mouse (some units have this problem) and it never interferes with the applications you have running on your computer during switching.
Excellent product.

Very nice little device
by sandwicz ,Jan 13 '04
Pros: Easy to connect and use, compact, handy. Cons: When one box had a problem, I had to bypass the switch.
I bought this switch so I could run one machine and keep it in "good shape" while having another machine to experiment with & not lose files.
So far, so good. Switching between machines is simple and it does exactly what I want with 2 minor exceptions.
1) my trackball is a USB device and I used an adapter. It is now treated as a wheel mouse & I lost one of the scrolling options. It was an option I used, sometimes, but I can live without it.
2) my older machine runs WinME. Since it's a somewhat unstable OS, when it locks up, I need to restart in safemode. I couldn't get it to start in safemode. I kept getting a keyboard error.
I worked around the error by disconnecting the KVM switch and hooking everything up to the WinME machine directly.
This worked, but was a pain in the butt!
Having said that, if I wasn't running an unstable OS, I wouldn't have had that problem.
So... I DO recommend this little guy as a handy little device.

This is the one
by jetgraphics ,Jul 09 '05
Pros: Works well, and is reliable to the max Cons: none
After experiencing two other competitor's products, I am persuaded that Linksys is the best KVM you can buy.
I have the two port model, and have used it extensively for over a year.
The switching is flawless, and I have never had a problem with the video resolution.
