Works great
by robdrew ,May 04 '05
Pros: Easy setup with midi devices. No latency when using a sound card with ASIO Drivers Cons: None
Installation of this device was very easy and for the most part, runs quite seamless with Acid 5.0. It also works with Reason 3.0. The only drawback is that there is a 1/2sec delay from when you hit a key on your midi keyboard and when you actually hear the sound. But for $50, you can't go wrong.
Update - November 2007 -
I upgraded my sound card to an M-Audio 2496 Card and now there is no noticeable latency when using the Voyetra Turtle Beach USB MIDI cable. I am using the cable with Windows XP Pro SP2 and have not had a problem yet. The programs I have used it with include Ableton Live 6 and Sony Acid Music Studio 7, which is great for VST Plugins. I have no reservations recommending this device for purchase. Expect to pay between $35 to $60 depending on where you purchase it.

Buyer beware, will not work with many midi devices
by jjm53568 ,Oct 31 '03
Pros: None that I can think of. Cons: Poor/rude technical support, device will not work.
It sounds terrific in theory; why buy an expensive midi interface when you can hook your midi devices to the game port in your sound card. The problem is that for many users, Voyetra's Midi Cable Pack will not work.
I attempted to connect an midi keyboard to my computer using Voyetra's cable. Despite hours of troubleshooting, configuring, etc., Voyetra's sound testing software simply could not find the midi device.
I noticed that many of these devices are for sale on Ebay, unused and selling for a few bucks at most. I don't think my situation is unique, many consumers seem to be having problems with this device.
While the fact that this device did not work was troubling, it was nothing compared to the poor technical support I received from Voyetra. It is somewhat common (unfortunately) for technical support departments to be less than helpful at times. The technical support person I dealt with at Voyetra was downright rude.
I purchased a competing product from Midiman and I was up and running with no problems whatsoever in less than ten minutes. Since Voyetra classifies this piece of hardware as software, I can't return it to the retailer.
