After my dog experienced a skin allergy from her old dog food (Iams) I was lost to what dog food to buy. There are so many smaller names and I had heard nothing about any of them. We went to a local pet store and luckily they had sample bags of the foods they sold. When I gave California Natural (Lamb and Rice) to my dog, she ate it up like it was a treat. I was impressed, but she has been known to love things for oh..about..two days (just long enough for me to go out and buy it...). She had stopped eating her old food and had lost lots of weight and we really wanted for her to gain some weight as well. To do this, we couldn't get another food that she wouldn't eat. So, I was a little worried. But, she ended up loving it. She eats twice the food that she used to eat and I don't need to entice her with people food anymore. Her hair started growing back, is way softer, is way shinier and she has a lot more energy. I think we really found a great food!

This product did not work on our Mini Poodle who is 4 years old and constantly licks her front paws. This product seemed to make her allergic reaction even worse and she was constantly chewing to the point where we couldn't stop her. We will continue to look for a product that will help her.

My dog Cheyenne who is a 4 year old doberman pincher has been eating this food for 3 years now. She was originally eating PFD dog food in which the breeder had suggested I feed her. he had a lot of gas with that food so I din my research & gave her California Natural Lamb & Rice food, she looks wonderful her coat is so soft & shiney & her stools are firm. I have people always stopping me when I take her for walks & they tell me she is so soft & shiney.
I highly recommend this food for anyone considering giving their dog a lamb & rice formula

We got our yellow lab at 2 1/2 years old, we were out and in of the vets constantly to treat ear infections and hot spots. It was a costly experience, and once when we went to bath him we asked about his problems, and they recommended California Natural. I am happy to say the ear infections and hot spots stopped right now. The other product we use with it is Shed Relief which is full of great oils and vitamins for your pet, and the two combined, give him a beautiful coat and little if no shedding problems.I must say it will take the Shed Relief a good 2 months to see an amazing difference, but it is truly worth the money and time spent. The California Natural also make a dog treat that is wonderful also! Marked improvement, but only problem that remains is he is just a dog that is itchy and scratches just not as much!

Pros: Basic quality ingredients, less complicated formula for sensitive or allergic dogs.
Cons: Kibble size is too large for toy breed dogs, smell and flavor does not appeal.

The chicken and rice version was recommended to me and the ingredient list sounded wonderful. The only problem is, my chihuahuas refuse to eat it. No small sample size was available so I have totally wasted my money.

Unlike other premium kibbles, California Natural has a limited ingredient list. This is important for dogs with sensitive stomachs, due to conditions like IBS and Pancreatitis. I have fed CN Lamb Meal & Rice to 4 dogs for over 2 years, one of whom has pancreatitis. All dogs are doing very well with this food.
