Pros: Very Long, lots of spin, nice and soft Cons: The soft cover cuts up and scratches
The new Callaway HX golf balls have a revolutionary new dimple pattern. Instead of the dimples being circular, they are hexagonal. This provides 100% surface coverage because the hexagons tessellate perfectly. With the circular dimples some gaps are left...
Pros: Flies fairly straight. Cool looks. Explodes off my hybrid. Priced fair. Cons: No killer distance off the tee and doesn't stop well on greens.
This review is for the HX HOT. I had high hopes for this new Callaway ball. It's 3-piece construction and soft cover interested me a lot. I thought this ball would really fly. It looks cool. Well, here's what I found: At $24 a dozen it's priced right. ...
Pros: excellent feel and distance. very workable but does not exaggerate a swing fault. Cons: getting too aggressive with a wedge to produce optimum backspin will produce a cut.
The only downside I see to this ball is its cost. The thin cover tends to slice when the ball is ...
My favorite ball - discontinued? AHHH! by Jeremy_Gentry ,Mar 26 '07
Pros: Feel, distance, price. Cons: Discontinued
I'm a single digit handicapper that doesn't like to pay a fortune for balls. At around $25 you can't find a better golf ball. The feel is great, I never had a problem bringing the ball back. Touch around the green is just as good as any of the higher priced balls and the distance was at least above average. My only complaint is they have discontinued this ball!! The only options Callaway seems to be offering now is the HX Tour and the HX Tour 56. At around $40/dz or more that doesn't fit with my idea of a perfect golf ball. If you can find these on ebay you had better snatch them up. It's another great ball that has met its demise at the hands of time. Long live the Precept EV Extra Spin!!!
How about those Callaway HX balls? by snowjackle900 ,Nov 01 '04
Pros: Give more feel and control, extraordinary flight performance, and make for more consistent play. Cons: The price of the golf ball ranges from about $30-$40 for a dozen.
The Callaway HX golf ball is the best ball ever produced by Callaway golf. Its design makes for a great flight performance while in the air and advanced velocity for more distance. The HEX design, never used on any golf ball before, offers more shot-to-shot consistency.
To believe how soft these balls are they must be felt. They are extraordinarily soft, which makes for more feel and control around the greens. They come in Callaway HX blue, red, and tour.
The Callaway HX red are especially for distance, while the blue are made for more spin and control around the greens. The tour is a balance of both, and the tour is considered to be the most desirable of the three. After trying out all three I must say that these balls are definitely a great addition to my bag. If you buy these balls, I assure you that you won't regret it.
