Spend a lot, save a lot (memories that is)

Pros: multi format, great scan quality, great bundled software, USB interface
Cons: aps scanning not automated for batch jobs
We wanted to archive the family slides and researched many other makes. The FS2720U stood out because it is quiet, scans high resolution (2720 dpi), came with APS adapter (others charge $150+), has a USB interface.

Pros: Exceptional quality, service, ease of setup
Cons: A bit slow at highest resolution, cheaper alternatives available
I am an amateur photographer and I must say that I am extremely fussy about the quality of a photograph. I shoot mostly slides and use the scanner primarily for slide scanning to archive and print my shots. Here is my impression of the FS2720U:

Pros: High quality scans, low cost, APS adaptor included.
Cons: No automatic scratch/dust removal, not VueScan compatible
The CanoScan FS2720U is a terrific tool for the advanced amateur / novice photographer that still use film.
