Pros: Lightweight, fast focus, super sharp, no barrel distortion Cons: Plastic filter threads...that's all I can think of.
After switching from film to digital, I realized just how much the 1.6x crop factor of the new camera limited my wide-end abilities. I wanted that extra "wow" factor back, and this lens definitely delivers. Weight: The first time I took it out ...
Pros: Super wide angle. Pretty resistant to flare. Sharp. Takes standard thickness UV filter. Cons: Costs more than it ought. Needs thin circular polarizer. No hood included. Chromatic aberration.

by David Tong The Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens is purely for Canon's crop sensor camera line (as of writing) starting from the EOS 20D/300D to the current EOS 50D/450D. It will not mount on the EOS 1D series (1.3x crop), neither will it ...
Pros: Great distortion control, solid build quality, very sharp. Cons: A bit expensive for some, but well worth the cost of admission for the flexibility.
What can I say about this lens? it was actually one of the reasons that I chose to go with the Canon line for my venture into DSLR photography. Previously, I had used a point and shoot camera and had always wanted to be able to get the perspective from ...
Best ultrawide lens for compact DSLR by digitaldiver ,Dec 14 '09
Pros: Light, fast, square, and VERY wide Cons: Costly and requires low profile CP filter
I just finished 3 weeks of shooting New Zealand landscapes on a Canon T1i. The 10-22mm ultrawide got a workout - and performed flawlessly.
One minor beef is vignetting with stacked filters - and some conventional 77mm CPLs. Easy to solve with an low profile filter. The built-in flash also throws a shadow at wideangle.
If you're considering one of the less-expensive aftermarket alternatives from Tamron or Sigma, head to a camera store and compare them side-by-side. Take a sample shot with a square pattern at extreme wide-angle and you'll see how much less distortion there is with the Canon.
Pros: solid, pro feel, worth full price, instant results and wow factor. Cons: high cost for consumers and non pro. no lens hood included.
this is great! i had a 10d that i had bought a sigma 15 to 30 wide angle lens on, was very happy...gave me the equivilent of about a 24 wide angle as to a 35mm camera.
NOW with this lens i have my wide wide angle back, equiv to about 16mm i think on my 20d. so happy. very very little barrel distortion or pincushion. absolutely wonderful for interiors...church sanctuary, etc. very nice construction, feels tight. i bought at full list, but very happy.
