Pros: 8.0 megapixels, super ergonomics, great battery life Cons: No ISO 50 sensitivity setting, slow f3.5 maximum aperture on EF-S 18-55mm zoom

Pros: High quality images, low noise, blazing performance, excellent battery life, value for money Cons: Kit lens somewhat disappointing, no spot metering, sub-par incandescent performance at AWB

Pros: Price, Size, 8 MP, Features Cons: No Included Compact Flash, No ISO 3200, small LCD and ViewFinder
INTRODUCTION Fed-up with the limitations of Point-and-Shoot (P&S) digital cameras, I finally decided it was time to move up to the Digital SLR world. After a great deal of research, I finally decided on the Nikon D70. The Canon 20D was too ...
Pros: Image quality, speed, speed, speed, size, features, price, build quality Cons: LCD too small, too dim to read in bright daylight
My first digital camera was a Kodak DC 40 with a whopping 381,000 pixels and I have been getting a new one every 2 years or so since then. Being no stranger to SLRs and amateur photography (my first SLR was the Olympus OM-1 back in the late 70's), from ...
Pros: Very easy to learn and use. Excellent overall performance. Cons: Requires photo processing software to realize the full potential of this camera.
I will not list all the specs for the little Canon EOS Rebel XT DSLR camera. The Canon web site can provide all the details; all I want to do is describe what it's like to actually use this camera and help you make an intelligent choice in buying your ...

Pros: Super fast shutter and amazing image quality...what more could you need? Cons: No remote and the LCD is a little small.
Overview This camera should last me a good long time before I ever have the desire to buy a new one! I am an avid photographer and like SLRs as I've used one since I first began taking photos 30 years ago. SLRs are not for everyone, but if you ...
Pros: Fast shutter, nice lens, high-quality images, really too many features to list. Cons: Heavy, somewhat large. No view finder. Photographer-oriented manual, with much technical jargon.
OK, first off, I'm not a photographer, just a regular Joe who couldn't stand missing special moments waiting for the shutter of my crappy point and shoot to open and close. The delay was maddening and the results, so-so. So, I decided to plunk down ...
Pros: Fast Durable Quick! Perfect for the most important subjects in the world -- our kids! Cons: Too big for the diaper bag, wouldn't suggest throwing it in the stroller.
While this camera does everything the other reviewers say, this review is from a Mom's perspective. It takes fantastic pictures of kids, even the ones that move really fast and hate to have their pictures taken. It can make them look adorable when ...
Pros: Size, Resolution, Speed, Price, Ease of Use Cons: Plastic Finish
After some research, I bought the Kodak DX7590 at Christmas time. The DX7590 is a great 5.0mp point and shoot camera, and I was fairly happy with it, but I quickly realized I was wanting to put different lenses and filters on the camera and that I wanted ...

Pros: Ready to shoot and easy to use Cons: Slightly heavy
I have just been using the new Canon digital EOS350D, the new and improved 8 megapixel camera (it replaces the 6.3mp so I'm told). A camera nerd friend of mine (maybe I'm being too harsh on him, after all he relies on this type of camera for his job), ...

Bought the 350D (Rebel XT in the US, I believe), as an upgrade to my Canon S70. I felt restricted by the S70's (and other point-and-shoots) because I could not easily autofocus on moving targets. This situation was a particular problem trying to ...

Pros: Fast, Accurate Focus, Easy to Operate and Manipulate, Very Durable! Cons: None
I switched from shooting 35mm to digital last November. I didn't want to spend too much on a digital SLR and I wanted one that would be compatible with the Canon Lenses I already had, so I went with a Rebel XT. It came with an 18-55mm lens and all of the ...
Pros: Many upgrades from original, small size, highly capable, under $1,000 Cons: Difficult to grip, plastic body, small focusing screen
The replacement for the original digital Rebel is sure to sell very well considering the upgrades and price. Canon has reduced the old Rebel's price substantially but that's not enough reason to forgo the new XT version. It has 98% of the 20D's ...
Pros: Fast, very Fast. Lightweight. Small. Good price. Very good value for the price Cons: Menu is almost not readable in daylight. Some buttons maybe hit by accident.
Let me start by describing the way I ended up with the 350D. I always owned a SLR starting with the Praktica B200 (1984) till now ending up with the Rebel Ti. In between this the Canon 10S and Elan, one of them ended up in seawater (including me) and the ...

Pros: Light, compatable with existing lenses and flashes, wonderful image quality and affordable, outstanding image quality Cons: Could be a little more ruggedized

Canon Rebel XT, the sibling of the dSLR that started it all. The Rebel XT brought the 20D’s resolution to the Rebel’s plastic body. While not a bad camera for the money - $700 was the best street price I found WITH the 18-55mm lens, the Rebel XT does ...
Pros: Fast shutter speeds, interchangeable lens, intuitive tracking. Cons: Limited continuous shooting at 4 pictures per 2.5 seconds. Digital pics are NOT analog.

Pros: Great quality pictures for web and prints, even in full-auto Cons: The kit lens is not the greatest; small viewfinder.

Pros: Price, image quality, speed, value Cons: Nitpicky flaws not worth mentioning

Pros: easy to use out of the box; great speed; pictures are excellent quality; good price Cons: Grip is a little small; many controls to learn
I've had this camera for about a year and a half and previously owned a Canon film SLR. I had some experience with "old-fashioned" photography and am so glad I made the switch to DSLR (digital SLR). Canon has excellent products, and the XT is an ideal ...
Pros: What you see when you click, is what you get as the picture. Cons: Maybe a LCD screen protector or two could have been included?
I cannot write a review detailing much use of this camera, but felt my "insta-review" was important to people who might be of the same "confusion" I was. I did assemble the unit very easily (supplied kit lens, battery and the 4G microdrive I opted for) ...
Pros: Rebel has auto pop up flash, wide range of Canon lenses & accessories. Cons: Lacks the build quality and features of Maxxum 5D.
I posted this same review elsewhere on the web, but thought I should share here as well the recent experience I had using both the Rebel XT and Konica-Minolta Maxxum 5D for a few days. I find both comparable in weight and holding. In terms of build ...
Pros: fantastic pics, canon makes their own chips/processor/buffer nikon = sony chips so no thanks nikon Cons: pricey with IS lens, software could be better. should have comew/ a basic adobe photoshop
Now...I'm a Canon fan, had a 35mm EOS Elan IIe, Canon Speedlite and numerous lenses. I was tired of shooting a roll or three of film and waiting to see what did turn out and of course, what didn't. I then went to an Olympus Camedia 3mp digital and had ...
Pros: easy to use, great options, many extras! Cons: kind of heavy, have to purchase more lenses
I purchased this camera last year while in the market for a new digital camera. My Father in law had the older version that was the 6.3 megapixel and I loved his camera. When I saw this one, I fell in love with it. It's very easy to use, whether you ...
Pros: Speed, image quality, ease of use, battery life, available accessories. Cons: Nothing significant. One bout with dust on the sensor, and that's all.
I purchased this camera as an upgrade to my 35mm film setup by Canon. The compatibility with all my current equipment was a big plus and the main reason I purchased it. Beyond that, though, the camera has been quite easy to use. If you are already ...
Pros: Good walk around camera. Lightweight, low noise, Cons: Pop up flash a little harsh on faces. 3 fps little slow, better with 5fps.
-The Rebel XT is my first digital slr and i'm very impressed. For an entry level slr this is the best you can choose.
-I bought my camera with the 70-300mm IS and the two paired together makes an awsome tandem.
-I did a lot of research on the d-70s and the xt and I decided to go with canon since I have had experience with Canon over the past few years. I am very impressed with Canon.
-The camera is well built even though some people say its to small. Other people with bigger hands than me might prefer a bigger camera.
-Its a good candid and walk around camera.
-Considering it's an entry level slr it has barely any noise that i can notice even if I blow it up a lot.
Cons
-The pop up flash is a little harsh on people's faces. I would recommend getting the 430EX flash.
-The max 3 fps is a little slow. Would be better with 5 fps.
Excellent SLR for beginners/amateurs by charliepappas ,Aug 07 '06
Pros: Solid shell. Well-placed buttons. Bright display Cons: Size, but what do you expect? is an SLR
CANON REBEL XT comes in silver and black. The black color accentuates the SLR line while the silver looks like a cheaply finished camera. The features in this camera are exceptional and the buttons are well placed. The camera has a hard shell and the display is quite bright. The delineation of the colors in the pictures is very "Canon" since all the shapes, lines and contours are sharp and colors are crisp and bright. Compared to NIKON D70 you are getting a much better deal as far as color processing.
I have used this camera extensively and I highly recommend as a photographer's first SLR camera.
The true beauty of this camera lies in that you can use any lens from the entire EOS line. I have a CANON EOS1 which I purchased in Germany in 1991 and I can use my lens with the Rebel.
For the price of the Rebel XT, you will not find a better SLR camera.
great price, great resolution, lotsa bang for the bucks by sadie2 ,Dec 21 '06
Pros: great resolution, reduced price, great features, free software, small and light. Cons: none so far
Since Canon reduced the XTs price to promote the XTi, the Rebel XT and the Nikon D50 were priced the same. I chose Canon Rebel XT since it had higher resolution and more features. Very compact and light for a DSLR. Since I had a film SLR from years ago and then bought a Sony point-and-shoot, the Rebel wasn't hard to learn. I handled several DSLRs for comparison at Ritz Camera and Circuit City and found the Rebel XT fit my hands but didn't weigh me down. I bought the 18 - 55mm lens and a 70-300 for when we go to Bosque del Apache. With 8mp and Canon quality, I think this camera should more than meet my hobbyist needs for quite awhile.
Had hoped for better results by rusgymrusgym ,Oct 08 '06
Pros: Good for large prints. Cons: Dust can get on sensor when changing lenses.
Picture quality really only comes into it's own in when making enlargements. Compared to a cheaper compact camera with half the amount of pixels there was nothing outstanding about the Canon EOS 350D in 6x4 print size.
The view screen is quite small and hard to read. There is a problem with dust entering the camera when switching lenses. This is difficult to remove by home remedies. I had to send the camera away for professional cleaning and was without it for 3 weeks.
Complicated to use in anything other than programmed mode. Wish I had chosen a decent standard compact digital with optical zoom and saved a lot of money.
Pros: great options Cons: if you dont understand digital cameras then youll have a fun time.
this is one of the newest and latest cameras to hit the market. I have tooken many photography classes and i found out recently that this is a elite camera. this camera has more options than any other camera. it nocks competition of the poll. the lens is 18-55mm. if you know your way around a camera then youll know that this is a great camera. with the standard apeture and flash this is a great camera. used by proffessinals everywere. if your someone who is serious about photography then the rebel xt is something you need to get your hands on.
Pros: customizability, high resolution, sharp pictures, good price, good support for camera Cons: fragile, complicated at first, extra lense expense, no video
This camera is a dream camera for the money. It features so much customizability that I actually had to learn more about photography in general to use some of the features! However, operating the camera is fairly easy to figure out. The extra lenses are expensive for it, but this starter lens has a fairly useful and wide range so you won't find yourself stuck with a lens that you hate. The camera is somewhat fragile because of the lens, so it requires a good amount of care and cautiousness. The LCD screen is large and bright, and the viewfinder cushion is a nice add-on. My pictures are wonderfully sharp and crystal clear. I find the camera takes the best pictures without its flash. ISO speeds, lighting modes, white points, sharpness, and color are all highly useful tools to customize the look of pictures.
Happy Beyond A Shadow of a Doubt! by hollow_man12 ,Mar 21 '05
Pros: Picture Quality unsurpassed, speed of startup and picture taking. Ultimate control! Cons: None so far :)
This was by far and away my most expensive camera purchase ever, Video or Still. And already it's given me the satisfaction to justify the money. The picture quality this camera produces with just the "point and click" setting is amazing. I plan to do some studying and research to learn how to use the rest of the seemingly infinite controls you can adjust and play with on this camera. Just simply the speed at which you can turn it on and take a picture is worth it. I don't know how many shots I have missed with my old digital camera waiting for it to "think" about taking the picture, then the follow up pictures I missed while it wrote to the memory card and readied itself for the next shot. The quality of the camera itself as well as the lightweight of it make it a joy to hold and carry around. I am completely happy with this purchase.
Pros: Capabilities, Boot up time, Function accessibility Cons: LCD brightness in bright daylight
I am purely an amateur photographer in the SLR industry, but the capabilities with this camera is ENDLESS! The feel of the camera body is a little heavier, by ounces, than the 35 mm Rebel Ti which I also own. But for my small hands, this camera fits well. The controls are easy to maneuver through although the LCD could be better in the bright of day. The camera has many programmed functions that can also be tweaked through custom settings such as richness, sharpness and contrast. Which comes close to the beauty of ISO 64 or less on an ISO 100 setting. I enjoy the compactness, portability and the fast boot up time of this camera. For those that can afford it, this camera is more than capable of producing some stunning images at any experience level.
Pros: VERY FAST, VERY FLEXIBLE, VERY FRIENDLY, VERY GOOD, VERY STRONG. Cons: no sd card options
8MP or 6MP ! Who really cares. Photoshop CS imports my D70 RAW NEF files as 11,15 and 25 megapixel 8-bit/16-bit NEF image files, if I choose ? Then I can crop it, if I want.
The 300D and XT are still cheaply made, whatever you say. bad ergonomics and menu system ? It's entry-level. It's still a great SLR...20D is much better, but expensive magnesium alloy body and usb2.0 port. Use a card reader.
D70 has very sturdy/ scratch resistant body...D70 has 1/500s flash iTTL sync for daylight power fill-flash, 30-1/8000s shutter or bulb = 30 minutes. Better quality Nikkor optics with kit overall...I mean the ED 18-70 AF-S lens. Very simple well placed controls and options + selection of 'waiter-mode' auto programs to learn from. With SB-600/800 hot-shoe flash - excellent pro-sumer SLR.
This is my first SLR period. Since Jan 05. Never giving it back ! Firmware upgrades exactly as D70s, yet big deal 2" LCD, instead of 1.8 ! Easier to use than most high-end SLRs or P/S Olympus or Kodaks or HP or Sony's etc...
quality optical glass in Lens and proper filter use help one focus on composing rather than frustrating for control.
The Best "Professional Amature" Camera by dmklass ,Aug 30 '05
Pros: Image quality (color, resolution), ability to go manual, fully auto, or anywhere in between. Cons: Small camera lcd screen. Manual focus ring on lens included with camera feels loose.
I upgraded to this from a Canon Powershot G2 (old). In short, this is an awesome camera for non-professionals. I've always loved Canon's image quality, and this camera is no different. This camera has the ability to go fully manual, fully auto, or anywhere in between you're comfortable with. It's a great camera, I'm 100% satisfied.
Equitable to film image quality? by cfordg1 ,Jun 11 '06
Pros: Fast and smooth operation. Relatively simple to operate. Totally manual mode an option. Cons: Image quality less than stellar with 28-105 USM II (a lense with good reviews)
After having used the Canon Rebel XT for a couple of days, I'm left with the question "what is all the fuss about?". Opting for the upgrade lense above the "kit" model, the 28-105 3.5-4.5 USM II produced disappointing results. Having researched the WEB thoroughly for detailed evaluations of SLR's in the price range, settling upon the lauded Rebel XT, I kept asking, what is the deal with these images that are less sharp than my Olympus 4000? Low light and macro pose a problem. After pondering the prospect of the IS lenses, and reading that optically are not that superior to the USM II (but offering an advantage of at least two stops), I decided to return the camera and lense for a refund (fortunately an option). The digital slr hasn't yet come of age in my opinion, when comparing to a trusty Nikon F3 or FM2 film or slide image. Not yet, except possibly for a dear price. The camera perfoms very well; the images didn't live up to the hype, unfortunately. I may simply have been expecting too much.
Pros: Awesome in almost every way. Cons: A few minor drawbacks.
My last camera was a Casio QV-10 I paid 500$ for, so I hung on for a LONG time to get something worth buying.
If you want an impressive digital, and you're going to be changing lenses to do "real" photography with macro/telephoto/tripod, etc but you don't want to shell out 1000$ or more I highly recommend it.
If you want something small that fits in a pocket, don't want to mess with lenses, don't care about photo quality then keep shopping.
The numbr of options this camera has are FAR too numerous to list here.
Drawbacks include the fact that the camera will only take RAW images when you're using non-automatic settings. (IE. if I want the camera to use automatic exposure and f-stop I can only save in High quality Jpeg, this will probably be enough for most users tho)
There is also no coating on the right-hang grip area so if it gets sweaty it tends to get slippery.
Excellent camera but get body only by rupertthebear ,Aug 19 '05
Pros: Takes nice picture, lightweight, compact, focuses tolerably well Cons: non-standard battery, button labels rub off the body
I love my XT although there are some criticisms - none of which detract from its overall merits.
I'd prefer that the aperture be controlled by a ring rather than by a button and an up/down dial.
I'd prefer that the internal display didn't switch itself off all the time. Maybe I didn't read the manual thoroughly enough.
I find the print on the body below the two buttons at the top right of the back has rubbed off (had the camera for 2 months) so much that they're now just anonymous black buttons.
There are too many controls and features. I'd like to see the camera re-manufactured as a straightforward manual camera with manual aperture and shutter speed control and no automation in any direction.
Great camera in almost all the conditions! by ncsbm ,Aug 27 '06
Pros: great quality, easy to use, long last battery, reliable on most shooting conditions. Cons: It is difficult to shot fast moving object on low lights.
After bought at last Xmas, I took it to a three weeks trip last months. During the travel, I took over 1,200 pictures with it. The shot condition were all kinds including during the dark night without flash light, the sunny day, cloudy day, speed bus moving, and raining days. The shot 90% of times were not failed. The pictures were really caught the moment and with good quality 90% times. The only time when pictures didn't turn right were when the light was not enough or with enough light, but the objects were moving too fast. Blurriness on some pictures were the only complain I had for this camera.
With more than 2,000 photos for the first 8 months using, I am very happy with the camera. The battery lasts much longer than I expect. With some basic reading and using Canon camera and some common senses on operating it, I think this camera is very easy to use. If you are first time user on digital, you shouldn't worry too much. The beauty of this one is that you can operate in very dummy way or you can play with those various settings like pro.
Still disappointed after 6 months by excanonfan ,Dec 18 '05
Pros: I cannot think of one... Cons: Expensive, soft focus, no preview in LCD, short battery life, operator interface is terrible...
Image sharpness leaves a lot to be desired, with the default 18-55mm lens having "soft" focus no matter what the setting.
I've had Canon's Powershot G2 camera for years, so I was expecting similar quality with twice the resolution (switching from 4 megapixel to 8 megapixel).
Also, the LCD does NOT allow you to preview the shot (unlike the G2 which allows you to compose the shot) - you only see the shot AFTER the shot is taken. And, the operator interface is so poor that you cannot shut off features that you do not want to see in the LCD. I would just like to see the image - not a huge blank square that blocks 25% of the image...
Look at other brands before you buy!
I am extremely disappointed with this camera, and will never buy a Canon product again. I was always a huge Canon fan, but this is the LAST Canon I will ever purchase!
Pros: Easiest camera to use that I have come across to date. Wonderful picture quality. Cons: Still can't figure why I would use raw format but it's there when I want.
This is my 4th digital camera and I think I will be staying with this one for quite some time. We have had it a year now and I still love it. It is one of the easiest camers to use. Picture quality is beyond wonderful. It is pretty much a point and shoot camera for those that want to do that right out of the box. But it is also so much more for those that want to experiment. We bought this camera when we were waiting for our grandchild to be born. I have the most amazing pictures of this baby. Everyone is watching him grow because of this camera and its ease of use. I cannot express that enough. So simple to use and to get a beautiful picture.
An excellent digital camera with a bad popup flash (review from Sri Lanka) by nishy ,Aug 22 '05
Pros: Excellent quality/performance. Light and compact. Feels great in even large hands. Good power consumption. Cons: Loud, in-built pop-up flash, vibrates the whole camera suddenly. No leather camera body cover.
As a traveller to remote regions, I wanted a high quality, compact, versatile, power efficient, fast processing digital SLR to complement or even replace my Nikon 65 SLR (which I love and use). It should also be good for family use. I did not want to carry bulk camera bags on difficult trips where lightness of travel was essential.
After much debate between Nikon D70/50 cameras and this, I bought the Canon 350D (as it is known in Europe). I noted the pluses on Nikon especially the "better ergonomics" and better lens as many had stated. However, the Canon's feel was fine and its comparative lightness a deciding asset. The software bundle was also perfectly good for all but technical camera buffs.
The Digital Duck says YES! by digitalduck ,Dec 26 '06
Pros: Many lenses to add.
Nice light all around camera.
User Friendly Settings for everyone. Cons: A bit small with out the battery grip &
LCD could be a bit larger.
This is an EXCELLENT camera to get started with.
It provides plenty of room for any type of photography you want!
UPDATE:02-02-07 Having used this camera for a while ...
It's STILL well worth it!
A Benefit I was NOT aware of when I first wrote this - The resale value of Canon is higher than many other brands.
Someone sold a lens for $1,350.00 that is exactly the same as one I bought factory refurbished for $1,400.00.
In Other Words: Canon appears to retain it's value nicely!
Sure! There is cheaper - but is it worth tossing away the RESALE value?
I have been in this since August 2006 and am seriously looking towards upgrading already!
I already have someone that wants my camera without my advertising it!
When you get this - look at the "L" lenses you can enjoy!!!!
My fourth and best digital camera by ffayard ,Aug 04 '05
Pros: Very fast and very good picture quality. Very long battery life. Cons: Manual mode is hard to handle.
This digital camera is really good. really fast and high quality image. Want the ease of a digital camera and the speed of a reflex for a very good price and the Canon quality. This is it !
Pros: Great photo quality. Love bigger lens! (Than most digital pocket cameras.)
Cons: I have an Elan and I like the fact I can reuse accessories.
Great camera been looking at it for weeks finally got one. I love it!
However,
If you have any Canon compatible accessories such as a lens or maybe a flash that does not say Canon. The camera knows and they do not work on this camera. I have a Quantaray Zoom that I used to use with my Elan and the rebel won't take a photo with it. (I knew I should have spend the extra dough on the Canon!)
Pros: Fast, true colors for printing, different setting, perfect all a round camera Cons: None so far
I bought this canon XT 350 about 3 weeks ago, with Sigma zoom lens 28-300, I have taking pictures left and right, I love it.
I love the setting, I read the manual, very easy to learn and
master. Lots of features. Good color for printing, I do not need to color correct or adjust anything. I have seen pictures
from other cameras, let me tell you most of them are bad colors are off either too blue or too pink, but this one gives me more of natural colors. The only thing I can think of is the flash, I probably need to buy a bit stronger flash for my camera.
I will strongly recommend this camera, and you can buy it from internet shopes and save tone on money, check with resellerratings.com to find out about their ratings.
Disappointing didn't live up to my expectations. by rebel_xs ,Feb 12 '06
Pros: Fast startup, excellent continuous shooting.lots of versatility. Cons: The output image quality is terribly soft, photos lack punch crispness.
I often wonder if there is something wrong with my REBEL XT considering most feel the image quality is very good. The images from in camera are soft and lacking saturation. You can certainly do a lot of post processing and improve them but then i didn't spend 2'000$ to spend alot of time on my computer.
I can back this up because my daughters Fuji Finepix images look so much better when I put them on my pc.
I purchased my kit with the 17-85 lens so theres no excuse for this. This is supposed to be a lot better than the kit lens. After using this camera extensively for a year i've given a lot of consideration to going back to my film camera. The other things I didn't like were it's tendency towards overexposure often. Some controls poorly laid out and difficult ,awkward to change.Build quality cheap and grip too small, lcd hard to see.
Pros: Quick and easy! Lots of Lens! Cons: little small on the hands
This camera is cool! The stock lens and flash are ok but I bought a speedlite 430EX and 70-300 IS USM telephoto lens for long shots... nice gadget and just enough technology to get me going and still wanting to learn more! This camera is way cool for the photography enthusiast! Pictures are sweet!
Highly usable Camera with a substandard flash. by schattke ,Nov 25 '05
Pros: What you see on the click is what you get Long battery life, ~300 pictures. Cons: Indoor flash makes halos on blond hair. Outdoor use of LCD is too dim.
I really like the point and shoot speed of this camera.
Most pictures turn out all right. Outdoors the clarity is outstanding.
Indoor pictures with the flash DO NOT TURN OUT WELL when the subject has blond hair. The flash pours a sheen on the hair that looks totally unnatural. I get better results off my much older Sony Cybershot DSP-70.
Overall I am happy with the camera. I will get an upgraded flash to hopefully fix the halo effect on the blond hair. The add on flash unit costs a few hundred more but will allow me to subdue the lighting indoors by bouncing off a ceiling.
I got a 70-300mm lens with the image stabilization that does an awesome job. The image stabilization is a WOW feature. I wish the supplied lens had it.
The SLR timing of pictures is great. Unlike the cheap digital cameras, you always get the smile you see. The lens options are outstanding and the upgrades are numerous.
I went with a 2GB SD card (514 pictures) but a 1MB card would have been fine. It's no problem to snap a couple hundred pictures in a session.
Excellent Digital Camera for an Excellent Price! by wolf1hockey ,Jun 15 '06
Pros: Great Price, Well Built Piece of Equipment! Cons: No Cons at this time.
I am very pleased with this particular camera and it's ease of use. For the price of such a piece, a consumer cannot go wrong! Strongly Reccomended for basic and more advanced users.
Pros: lightweight, fast shutter, looks, features Cons: at this point I have none whatsoever
I love my first Digital SLR, and am a previous Rebel 2000 film camera owner.
I did shop and compare but felt the Canon dependable name and the exchangeable lens that I already had were the the deciding factors. I am totally pleased with the camera and its many unique features. I particularly like its small compact size and light weight, making it easy to carry and pack away.
crystal clear images even for amateurs by oak_las ,Oct 15 '05
Pros: Easy to use, top quality Cons: Still a bulky camera for long trips, theft-prone?
I am no expert at photography, and I tend to use the automatic settings a lot. Pictures come out perfect most of the time, except at night or with shiny objects when I need to think about it a little more.
With a 1G memory stick, I have stopped thinking about how many pictures I have left. Connecting to a PC is a breeze, same to the TV.
Weight is nice a light. Despite that low weight, it seems well constructed, robust enough.
A low price boosts the Canon EOS Digital Rebel's appeal for amateur film-SLR photographers going digital and high-end snapshooters who want to experiment
Photo enthusiasts who want a relatively inexpensive interchangeable-lens SLR. Aggressive price; excellent, low-noise images; speedy performance; long battery life.
really love my new camera. Picture quality is truly spectacular. I can' wait to try out the hundred of little options and functions. I actually dropped it twice!! no problems. great stuff.
Pros: Menu - easy to use and understand
Zoom - Optical..super
Weight - just heavy enough Cons: A bit pricey, but not for what you get. No cons that I have found.
My husband bought me this camera for my birthday last year. I had owned a Kodak Easy Share digital, but wanted something that would do more and we found it with the Canon Rebel. It is easy to use, I am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination.
I love my Canon Rebel! Takes super pictures, many settings which are easy to learn.
This camera was my "Most Bang for the Buck" choice.
Pros: clear, crisp pictures with beautiful colors. Easy to use. No delay. Cons: bulky
I had the Canon G4 before this camera. When my daughter wanted her own digital camera, I gave her the G4 and bought the Rebel and I have been VERY pleased. Canon has eliminated the delay that plagues digital cameras. You can take multiple pictures in a row, which is GREAT for action shots especially. It is easy to use and takes GREAT pictures.
The only drawback to this camera is bulk. My husband took it on a trip to Ireland and it is so bulky that it becomes an annoyance to carry around when sightseeing and hiking, etc. But in that case, he should have taken the G4, which would fit in his coat pocket when not in use.
I searched EVERYWHERE for a good deal on this camera and found a vendor on ebay who has a store in NJ that bundles the camera with lots of accessories and even offers an extended warranty. The vendor is also bonded so I didn't worry about my transaction. My advice is to shop around because this is an expensive camera but it is worth it....especially if you can get the extras bundled in.
Pros: Excellent pictures during the day time Cons: No-flash mode must be handled very carefully
I have a lot of fun using this camera. Although I am not a professional photographer, I am simply an amateur but I have no trouble figuring out how to use the basic features of the camera. Using the camera in no-flash mode results in gorgeous pictures, but a camera stand is recommended if using the camera in this mode. I bought this particular product because of what I had heard about it from other people and because I like the brand Canon. The Canon Digital Rebel XT is one of the best cameras I have ever purchased.
