Pros: It's affordable high definition.  Impressive image quality.
Cons: It's a consumer gadget, so it lacks the great controls of more expensive cameras.

Summary: At its best, this camera delivers stunning high-definition images at a killer price.  I got the camera and 12GB CF card for $634 from Ritz Camera during a store closing sale, and the price/performance is definitely unbeatable. There are, ... read more

Pros: Image quality, optical stabilization, size
Cons: Grip comfort, low life for included battery

Summary: The Canon Vixia HF100 is my second attempt at replacing my old MiniDV tape-based Canon Optura 40.  My main objective is to get away from the cumbersome and linear nature of the MiniDV format and import process.  Flash and harddrive based ... read more

    Pros:

Excellent video quality. Edit video in Ulead or Sony Vegas with a reasonable PC.

Cons: Does not have an off camera battery charger
Extra battery and off camera charger needed

Summary: I purchased the HF100 after using the Sanyo HD1000 for about 6 months. I bought the Canon because of the company's excellent reputation for quality imaging both video and still. The HF100 has not failed in that regard. It is by far one of the best values ... read more

Pros: Truly excellent picture quality, convenience of recording to SDHC memory cards
Cons: Awkward ergonomics, poor Optical Image Stabilization, lack of manual focus Poor editing software

Summary: I have been waiting for about 2 years for this type of camcorder: one that records full hi-definition video onto solid-state memory. I've looked into the Sanyo Xacti camcorders, but the video quality was disappointing. I didn't want to purchase a ... read more

Pros: Picture Quality, Price, Storage Media
    Cons: Lacks a Firewire port

Summary: Already got the check in the “big screen HD TV” box last Christmas? Well, that probably puts you in the market for a new camcorder. If that is the case then the Vixia HF100 is definitely worth taking a look at. For starters, it provides ... read more

Pros: Video quality, ease of use, image stabilizer, software
Cons: It takes a very fast computer to handle editing the HVCHD format.

Summary: I have had this camcorder for about 2 weeks and I can not tell you how happy I am with everything about it and it's performance! The video is so good on an HD TV that friends/family could not believe it. The software that comes with the HF100 is very
