Pros: Cheap cartridges.
Fast, reliable
Flatbed, auto-document feed copier
2-sided copying
more Cons: a bit noisy
some operations not obvious; had to refer to manual
Can you fall in love with a machine? We were HP loyalists for twenty years. They were durable and reliable. But we became fed up with the cost of ink cartridges, terrible customer support, and -- the final straw -- HP's refusal to upgrade their XP ...
Pros: Excellent features, good software package and drivers, good performance, easy on the ink; duplex printing. Cons: Duplex copying still a mystery; smoke-free locations only: cleaning internal scanning surface not feasible.
This $199 unit came to the top of my list when looking for a replacement for my disappointing HP 2110 (see review here). I was looking for features, ink costs, price, and certainly not least, maintainability. The Canon MP780 did not disappoint. I must ...
Pros: Does everything with ease and produces amazing pictures Cons: ADF is not the best
When I got Cannon MP780, I thought that it was going to take too much space on my desk. Surprisingly, it took up just a few additional inches compared to my old Epson 820 Color Printer. Don't get me wrong, it is definitely taller, but the footprint ...
Pros: Duplexing, fast high quality printing, Cons: Macintosh support
We were looking for a printer to replace our HP OfficeJet v40xi. We knew we wanted another all-in-one (AIO) but we wanted some functionality not offered by to V40xi and a better balance of consumables costs (print cartridges). The features we were ...
Pros: GREAT photos, easy to install/use, good looking, two paper trays, duplex printing. Cons: Ink access cumbersome for big hands, pictbridge limits camera options
This review comes to you from a former Canon MP730 owner (which I reviewed over 2 years ago). This machine was purchased to replace my MP730 - as it turns out for no real reason. (See the update to the MP730 review for details). We run a small ...
Pros: Great value, quiet, well built and versatile Cons: Large, no USB cable, no card reader, no printed manuals, small copy issue
Since I haven't owned this printer very long, this will be a preliminary review. I will make every effort to update it at a later date. When our 3 year old Epson 786EPX photo printer developed communication problems, I knew it was time for a upgrade. ...
Pros: worked good while it lasted Cons: died too soon. It wasn't used that often.
Bought Canon mp780 Feb. '06. worked very well till today Gets error code 6A00 Cannon support has much to be desired. Only line useless and call TOLL free # will cost you $9.95. to bring it to the nearest repair shop. $100 minimum there. So the land fill ...
Pros: Great set of features, lots of good reviews Cons: Weak warranty - consider a refurbished one; controls are poorly laid out vs the HPs
After reading a lot of good reviews, I bought the MP780 to replace my HP6110 that was starting to go (a little prematurely, I think, considering I don't use it a lot). First thing I noticed, as an Officejet user, was that the control panel looks like ...
Pros: It is cute. Cons: Canon has a lousy Warranty and customer service.
2 months into the purchase of this unit..and already the "infrared sensor" has gone out and it is no longer reading the ink cartridges. I thought by replacing the "print head" I would be able to fix the problem...but this item is not replaceable by the ...
Cadillac of under $300 printers! by gardog2 ,Jun 28 '05
Pros: Does everything well, quickly, quietly, with no fuss Cons: none encountered so far
This is a great product for the price, does everything well; there's a 'quality feel' to it that the HP, et al just don't have. Every HP I've had (in this price range) has some awkward operating features, & develops mechanical/feed problems (jamming, etc) after a short while. Try feeding a 20 page fax or doc thru a $300 HP & walking away - hah, right! No probs here -
Pros: Does it all well. Cons: "Red" isn't available as a text color (red-orange is what you get).
I've avoided multifunction printers for years, on the theory that copier, scanner, fax, and printer all in one leaves you with less than the best in each category, and provides multiple ways for all your important business devices to fail at once. But this machine proves me wrong, with a great package that does it all, and does it very, very well.
The best parts:
- sheet feeder or flat glass for scan/copy/fax
- sheet feeder for scanner/copier/fax feeds documents flawlessly (so far)
- scanning many pages into one document (I put machine readable images into pdf files)
- Quality photo scan/copy/printing
- Easy setup and use
- 2 paper input trays
- small desktop footprint
"Red" is really "red-orange" for text printing. It's a mystery how a printer can render beautiful image quality without being able to print text in one of the first eight basic colors that first came into the PC business 20+ years ago.
One of our better investments, it does it all and does it well by evilinsano ,Sep 15 '05
Pros: Ease of use, styling, quality Cons: Menu options are a little tricky, need the manual, not always intuitive.
It does what is says, and it does it well. The controls to get the answering machine on our phone to work and not the fax were a little tricky but all is well. Like the styling and it bundles everything in an easy to use way.
Pros: Fast, quiet, great paper feed, cheaper cartridges, great color. Cons: None
I'm surprised that there are no reviews for this printer. It is the best printer that I have ever owned. I have had 4 printers from the same manufacturer (don't want to sound like I'm bashing so I won't mention the name) and they have all been OK but the last one died prematurely so I decided to research and find something better. I needed multi-function so that boils it down considerably. This printer is well built, quiet, and reasonably fast. The paper feed is trouble free and can come from the bottom tray or feed from the back. Also, envelopes and 4x6 photo paper have never jammed ala old printer. It has a very intuitive keyboard. Photos are fantastic even though it isn't represented as a "photo" printer. The scanner is high resolution and it scans and copies beautifully. The FAX works with VOIP which I understand can be a problem for some machines.
It has 5 cartridges, 2 blacks and the normal three colors. Cartridges are much cheaper than old printer and I feel that I am using all the ink instead of throwing away a 3 color cartridge because one color is empty.
Love it. Easy to use and reliable. Good quality by deverelle ,Jul 17 '05
Pros: Lovely photo prints, quick faxing, very quiet, easy to setup, economical supplies. Cons: A bit bulky, no print documentation.
I bought this to replace a new (but hideous) HP PSC1610. I've been very pleased. It is easy to use and do an admirable job on regular text, photo printing, faxing and scanning. It's a bit large but that is not a serious issue given that one unit does what three others used to. I would recommend it to anyone.
Canon Pixma Best Deal By Far by jctinri ,Jul 18 '05
Pros: Individual inks-low print cost, Canon name, ease of setup, too many to list. Cons: USB cable not included from Canon - but is cheap to buy.
I spent a lot of time researching which multi-function printer to buy for my home business. Thanks to Epinions and in store comparisons, I decided on the Canon Pixma MP 780. It was a great decision. This machine is all you will ever need- it rivals the giant commercial multi-function copy machine in my office that also scans and faxes- at a mere fraction of the cost and size. It's a good sized printer, but feels solid and sturdy - unlike the comparable Lexmark multis - and is attractive looking.
It prints quickly- quietly. You can choose multi paper locations to print from. You have two input options for faxes or three for scanning and copying.
Set up is a breeze and the control panel is very easy to understand. It has individual inks that average only $10 each, so the per copy print cost is very low - a big deal for me.
It has so many features I haven't come close to tapping into it's potential yet. If you are also in search of a reliable multi-function printer/copier/fax/scanner - you won't go wrong with this Canon. It's worth every penny.
