Pros: Very nice point-and-shoot digital camera. I especially like the anti-shake feature. Cons: Poor design of battery compartment electrical contacts. See my comments above.
I really like the PowerShot A570IS. It's a big step up from the A80 I had before it. However, I've experienced the low-battery warning problem that has been mentioned multiple times on the 'Net. The problem manifests itself when the camera turns on ...

canon a570is
by piesyor ,Nov 24 '07
Pros: It's broke & complicated Cons: Let me think? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?
Have had it less than a week.
The on/off & shutter click tones don't work.
The battery & SD card access cover is broken & won't open (good thing I didn't take any compromising pics).

Good Sturdy Camera
by thenewsora ,Mar 12 '08
Pros: Sturdy,Pretty good Battery life. Cons: Older,Less features.
This is a pretty good camera what it lacks in features it makes up for its sturdy build. I dropped mine on the floor countless times and it is still working fine. If you want a good long lasting sturdy camera with pretty long battery life then this is the camera for you.

Battery problems
by skeogh ,Feb 08 '08
Pros: Great features Cons: Battery problems make this a no no
Great camera apart from the chronic and seemingly insoluble low battery indicator problems, widely discussed on line but denied by Canon. The camera shows low battery - and then closes down - sometimes after as few as half a dozen pictures, regardless of what type of battery is used. Buyer beware

lo-battery sensor faulty?
by labete ,Feb 07 '08
Pros: mini-zoom.mini-macro.Image Stabilization Cons: Battery sensor seems faulty. Battery cover difficult and flimsy.
Love this little toy!!
Unfortunately the battery "LO" icon flashes most of the time even though batteries are new!
Great for the economy price and ease of use for "simple-type" zooms & macros, the kind you can't get with a plain point and shoot.
Image Stabilization not perfect BUT a great improvement over the A460

Best Buy is NOT your Best Buy
by technoidiot ,Feb 01 '08
Pros: Weight, ease of use and simply stated clear instruction manuals. Bright, clear, focused photos! Cons: Price variance.
Love the camera. So far for a techno-idiot, I can handle it and it takes great photos...but, don't walk, RUN from Best Buy. The day I went to the store, I mentioned to the salesperson that I was sure that Staples had the A570 IS camera cheaper and he said they would check. Well, he didn't and shame on me, I left the store thinking oh well, what's $20....well, Staples, The Apple Store AND amazon.com all had the camera a minimum of $30 cheaper ($50 in the case of Staples). I was so angry but when I called, because I missed their 14 day window, it was my tough luck. Buy the camera but NOT at Best Buy. Could have purchased it on amazon.com with 4 GB memory, case, etc. for the same price!!!!

Poor Battery Life
by shotguncreek ,Mar 30 '09
Pros: Takes wonderful pictures Cons: Vey poor battery life
Would not recommend this camera because of the poor battery life. When I first got it the batteries would only last for 2 or 3 pictures so sent it back to Canon for repair and it came back marginally better but still unacceptable. Have tried different rechargeable batteries and different chargers with no success. The sales person then suggested disposible Luthium batteries and that has worked but gets a little pricey. The camera otherwise is fine.

Nice camera...till it broke
by fredh ,Jan 06 '08
Pros: Excellent pictures, macro focus, manual controls Cons: autoexposure flaky, complex controls, mechanical failure of lens extension mechanism in less than three months
Good pictures and does have manual controls. I like and need the macro focus. AutoExposure failed from time to time (e.g., when taking several pictures under the same light conditions, one would be seriously underexposed). Light and easy to carry in a jacket pocket so it was always ready for use.
In terms of features, an excellent camera for both point-and-shoot and experienced photographers. Both my wife and I got almost professional quality pictures.
I really liked the camera until it broke. Soon after I bought the camera, the lens failed to extend when I turned it on. This happened several times until the lens jammed in the extended position less than three months after I bought it.

good camera
by khabbab ,Jul 21 '09
Pros: good picture quality, good low light pictures, good movie Cons: poor image stablizer
This is a good camera but night snap shots are good only if u use tripod. Image stablizer does not work very well. Videos are of good quality.
