An Excellent Camera!!!

by mellimel19 , Apr 16 '07
Pros: Excellent photo quality, good price, allows the option of automatic or manual photo-taking.
Cons: Larger than other cameras out there, but the features it has outweigh the extra size.
I have had this camera for over a year now, and absolutely love it- it has allowed me to take wonderful pictures in every type of condition/situation. I love that you can do as much or as little as you want with this camera. You can go completely ...

A good camera

by rhino91 , Sep 22 '06
Pros: Closeups are crisp, vivid. Magnify with enclosed software, and detail remains.
Cons: Plastic battery compartment cover horrible. Need to push down and in to close..feels fragile.
Bought this camera mid August, 2006 from Comp USA for $250. Took it out hiking with me soon after. The closeup shots (where I either physically got close to an object or used the optical zoom to zoom in) blew my Canon EOS film camera out of the water. ...

Good camera for basic photography

by mistybell , Aug 21 '08
Pros: Macro shooting mode, swivel screen, user friendly, small, affordable, reliable
Cons: Limited amount of zooming ability
I have had this camera for a couple of years, and I have absolutely loved having it. It has really spurred my growing interest in photography and has helped me get a grasp of some of the basics with the ease of a nice safety net in knowing that I can ...

Canon PowerShot A620
by Bissynut ,Dec 06 '06
Pros: Small, Great Pix
Cons: Shutter lag, no image stabilizer
So I love Canon and have had several of the cameras both film and digital. My Canon G3 had to go (the shutter lag was driving me to drink)in favor of the smaller A620.

The shutter still lags but not nearly as much. The 7.2MP was a great bonus (up from 5MP), the camera is a good size and weight. Some of the doors on the camera feel flimsy however.. like they might rip off at any moment.

For the price.. it can't be beat! I'm not a pro.. I just take pictures on vacation, of the kids and friends, so I'm your average user. I think the A620 is easy to use and produces top quality photos.

I'd recommend this for anyone.

If I would buy any Canon camera - it would be this one..
by theorange ,Sep 20 '06
Pros: 7 megapixel, simplicity, fast, powerful, and quite cheap.
Cons: Not the smallest camera in the world, some features are too advanced.
An updated model from last years A510 and A520, Canon made some good changes to give superb image quality, some good ergonomics, and fast operation. It is as simple or as advanced as you want to make it.

Easy to pick up and use while at the same time having enough settings to last you for many years to come.

Highly recommend it.

One that can't be beat....
by irbya1 ,Jan 05 '07
Pros: Fast shutter action, many function modes, takes clear, crisp pictures. Many benefits built in.
Cons: Lack of a neck strap, some old habits die hard.a
An old dog learning new tricks, had SLR's for many years, both were Canons. Had several other digitals, but need an upgrade, so I went to Canon. It was like coming home after a remodel. I just naturally fell into this one. Excellent photos, great choice of camera functions, ease of use, and no film development required. The video function is the best feature. I have a 2gb sd card in it, and have never filled it yet. Batteries last for ever with this pup. Took several cave tours in one day, lots of flash action, and the batteries needed changing once, over 400 pics 70% flash. Shutter lag????? My sd card is a 150X card, shutter worked like a SLR on a power winder. My wife was impressed because I was not cussing about this function or that. In short, I LOVE THIS CAMERA!!!!! The size is just right, it's sturdy as a SLR, even my wife can use it.

Don't let the price fool you.
by nq3g ,May 07 '06
Pros: Nice true colors, and sharp pictures. AA batteries. A large host of features.
Cons: None, for me anyway.
I have had a lot of Canons over the years, the s40,s45,s50,a80. I have had the a620 for about 6 months now, and it has been the best one yet. The colors are true to the eye, and nice and sharp. I know a lot of people do not like the plastic body, but it has been no problem for me. I'm not going to play football with it. Also some people don't like that it uses AA batteries, but I like being able to pick up batteries in a pinch at just about any store. I use 2500mah rechargeable batteries, and I can take well over 350 shots with flash part time, and the LCD on full time. The burst mode is great at about 2 shots a second up to the capacity of the card. I have been taking pictures for 49 years, and I can make this camera do everything but the dishes.

Great point and shoot
by teajay ,Aug 16 '06
Pros: Smooth pics at 50,100 ISO. Digic II and lens. Great battery life. LCD screen.
Cons: Clunky zoom. No exposure bracketing. Flimsy doors. Macro only on wide zoom.
I will never buy another camera that has a wrist strap. It does take very good pics but has too many short comings for a serious photographer. The macro requires that it be in the wide zoom position and that is pain. The 4X zoom only has 7 steps which is rather clunky. Above ISO 100 the digital noise is noticeable as with virtually all small sensor cameras, Fuji cameras perhaps being the exception. There is no exposure bracketing? How tough is that to include!

I'm glad I made the right choice
by technophile001 ,Oct 18 '06
Pros: Rotatable LCD, also runs on normal AA batteries, brilliant outdoor shots, unlimited movie
Cons: Less than satisfactory indoor shots on preset 'Indoor' mode, flimsy A/V cover
After about a year's research on buying the right digital camera finally I bought A620 - and I'm glad that I made the right choice. Apart from its numerous benefits the best thing about this camera is that you can use it both as a point-and-shoot camera (with its many preset modes) as well as an intermediate (enthusiast-level) camera with a host of manual controls.

I've been using it now for about 8 months and I've never felt the need for using rechargeable batteries as the four AA sized Energizer batteries last quite long and they're quite affordable.

The rotatable LCD screen is such a useful feature and I've become so used to it that taking pictures with a normal built-in LCD feels like a lot of inconvenience.

While outdoor shots are breathtakingly vivid, indoor shots are not as satisfactory with frequent red eyes. But I've only tried indoor photography using its one 'Indoor' preset mode and I'm sure that with a little bit of tweaking with the settings, results can improve.

Overall, a very good camera with very good value for money for beginners as well as enthusiasts (intermediate-level power users).

The best camera that I have ever had.,
by taquila04 ,Jun 30 '06
Pros: Great grip, flex display, movie, and quick shots.
Cons: Heavy
This camera is THE ONE you want to own. It has everything you will ever need from a camera...photos, videos with sound, flip out screen, programmable and multi timed shots for tripod setup, extra info about images when viewing on screen, USB 2.0 connection, TV direct viewing, very good power management, regular AA batteries, affordable SD memory card, viewing through the view finder shows the same zooming that the screen shows when you want it turned off to save battery life. Also the camera is the perfect size and weight, not to big or heavy, neither too small and light to be easy to lose or drop or to feel cheap. If you are in the market for a digital camera, this one has more than any other one you can find. ...

I love this camera!
by amf543 ,Mar 29 '06
Pros: 7.1 megapixel - great optical zoom (4x) - easy to use
Cons: A little too big for most of the compact cases.
This is the best, easiest-to-use camera I have ever had. I love all the options (color switching - who knew they could do this on a camera?).

My everyday friend
by paulo_mauricio ,Nov 24 '06
Pros: Fully automatic but fully "manual" too. Superb macro function. Movable LCD.
Cons: It donīt have a battery indicator. A unique battery icon lites seconds before it shuts-off.
I have a Sony DSC-W7 and this Canon A620. Both are similar but I love the A620īs movable LCD and the possible completely manual settings. With the LCD facility I can shot at floor level without put my knees on ground. The image quality is amazing but the macro is stunning.

Awesome Do-it-all Camera
by cowboysffl1 ,Sep 29 '06
Pros: Picture Quality, Easy to use, 60sec video,4XOptical Zoom.
Cons: Batteries
Before I bought my Canon A620 we spent about a month researhing all digital camera's no more than $300. This was our first camera purchase, we didnt know anything about what we wanted, all we knew is we wanted it to take good quality pictures. THen we found out about optical zoom, digital zoom and megapixels. Let me save you time the Canon A620 only really had competetion from a lighter smaller camera, but that camera did not have the 7.1 megapixels nor the 4x optical zoom and was priced I believe about $50 more. We have friends that have them ultra slim camera's, let me tell you they are more impressed with ours than we are with theirs. Great pictures, easy to use! I have owned it for two months and we continue to enjoy it.

A Wonderful Camera
by runeatrepeat ,Aug 25 '06
Pros: Putting on another lens, Long battery life, Good zoom, High Resolution
Cons: Concerns of a long term durability of the flip-out LCD
As I was shopping around for a compact digital camera I noticed that there was a 7.1 megapixel within my price range. High resolution is usually good, so I decided to consider getting it. And then I noticed that there was this reasonably sized (2.0") LCD screen that you can move around to do self portraits, shoot over crowds, etc.
The A620 runs off of 4 AA batteries and can last for a long time shooting, and even using the movie mode. You can use Alkaline , or NiMH rechargeable batteries.
This is the camera to get with a 4X optical, 16X digital zoom, 7.1 megapixels, 4 AA batteries, and even something you normally can't do with compact cameras, you can put on a wide angle or a telephoto lens.
