by sherochan , Oct 22 '07
Pros: Size,(compact) Good Price Point, Red Eye Correction, Ease of Handle
Cons: Image Stabilization, Somewhat Slow Shutter Speed, Average Battery Life
Another quality product from Canon. While I won't say that the camera offers a big bang for the bucks, it is solid and reliable. If you're just looking for a standard point and shoot camera, this is a sure bet to give you what you want. The camera ...

Tiny. Easy to carry anywhere and it takes good pictures.

by dnhoshor , Dec 28 '07
Pros: Very small size, durable metal body. Fast startup and focus.
Cons: It lacks image stabilization.
I've had the Canon SD1000 for about four months now, and I carry it with me almost all the time. The camera is tiny, smaller than a deck of cards, and the case is matte finished metal that stands up well to wear. The small size makes it easy to stash ...

Best value for money

by wisechild , Jan 04 '08
Pros: easy to use, compact and light
Cons: night shots can be blurry and multiple shots in quick succession not possible
If you can still find this camera on sale, it's got all the same features as the newer SD850 (except a slightly smaller LCD screen) but is much cheaper. Consumer reviews all had this camera at the top of their lists which means millions of consumers ...

A sweetie with ease of use

Very good & good value too!
by ht39 ,Jun 10 '07
Pros: Small, fast turn-on, easy to use, most default settings fine.
Cons: Making manual adjustments to exposure difficult
One of the smallest ultracompacts available in US now (May/June 2007); very good value.

Very easy to use (purchased as gift for spouse). I really like the fact that it still has an optical viewfinder (useful in bright outdoor settings).

Most of the default settings or automatic settings are quite good. Changing some of the settings are not quite as intuitive as one would like (cycling flash options, for example--turning red-eye on/off is from the tools menu, rather than just cycling the flash button).

Turns on/off pretty quickly (on the order of 1 second or so).

Battery life also appears excellent.
