Neat but flawed with lens error
by andyp42 ,Jun 14 '08
Pros: Small, great pic's large viewfinder Cons: "Lens Error" rendered camera inoperable
Plus: A lovely little camera, takes great pics, recommended by Which? magazine BUT it seems to have a design flaw. After a few weeks it started giving intermittent "Lens Error. Restart camera " messages. Then after another week or two it permanently gave the message, rendering the camera useless.

Love this camera
by bernie157 ,Feb 19 '08
Pros: Compact, great pictures, many features, has a viewfinder (many do not), great battery life. Cons: Menus, functions more complicated than I would prefer.
I bought this to replace a Canon A520 which was REALLY SLOW to get ready for the next shot whether using flash or not. Uses proprietary battery rather than AAs like other Canons but so far so good. I set it to several notches lower than the default 7.1 megapixels and that is good enough for me. Also got it at a great price.

Canon PowerShot SD1000 - thumbs up
by becks5269 ,Mar 24 '08
Pros: Great point-and-shoot camera, great macro shots, clear photography, good for family photography Cons: Images have tendency to be blurry, shutter speed (esp w/ flash) is not optimal
I was given this camera for Christmas and it was one of the best gifts I've ever received! I am NOT a hardcore photographer, but rather just wanted a quality point-and-shoot for pics of family and friends. The SD1000 has done the trick and then some!
I am obsessed with the macro setting - it does a great job of shooting your macro pics. I find that many of my black and whites come out blurry, but thus is the nature of b/w.
The size is handy - fits in my purse and I take it everywhere I go. I previously had a very large Fuji digital camera that was hard to carry around and was more for true photographers, not a simple family gal.
The camera has a bunch of neat features and functions that a non-professional photographer can play around with to get more high-quality photographs. All-in-all, a fantastic camera!

by virginia-state ,Jun 19 '08
Pros: Easy upload on to computers. Easy to use for any age. Cons: Very delicate when dropped. Easily scratched.
This camera takes amazing pictures! The zoom is wonderful and the focus goes right to the the thing being photographed.
