Good Enough is
by tonygwilson ,May 14 '04
Pros: Great price, great resolution (if you know how to use it) and small size.
Cons: Poor low light performance and poor distance performance, even at full zoom
While many people believe that you need all the bells and whistles, I contend that Good Enough is sometimes. As the owner of a marketing and advertising firm, not every client is a huge corporation. Many customers are small businesses that desire products in their brochures, but can't afford professional photography. I have owned and carry this camera everywhere. I use it for photographing samples of the customers previous work (for quoting) as well as some product shots for small tri-fold brochures or quick sell sheets. Inexpensive, it makes a great addition to our salepeople's street kits.

Love it!
by look2bookz ,Dec 08 '04
Pros: Compact size and quality photos.
Cons: Some difficulty in using the manual settings.
This camera is so compact that it easily will slip into a small purse or even a shirt pocket! The pictures are excellent. Like all digitals, the manual settings require some study but I have been happy with the automatic focus. Make sure that you press the shutter button slightly to focus before you shoot though. For a camera to carry along with you, this is great.

Excellent camera!
by crys94 ,Mar 08 '05
Pros: Durability, Optical zoom
Cons: A little heavy, shutter lags
I've had this camera for several years now and it still works great! Takes excellent pictures, although it's only 2 Megapixels. The shutter lags a little, but takes beautiful shots with rarely any blurry pictures. Plus, it has optical zoom! The only thing I don't like about this camera is that it's a little heavy. It's still a small camera, but there's smaller ones out there.

I bought a Canon SD10 last year because it was a smaller camera, but I am very dissatisfied with it. It already broke after 7 months and I had to send it back to Canon for repair. So, I'm back to using the S200 again and couldn't be happier with this camera!

Good Buy
by mittelsc ,Mar 01 '04
Pros: size, price, performance, batteries
Cons: none
I bought the Canon S200 bases on advice from family and co-workers. It has not let me down in any way.

It is small, which makes you want to bring it everywhere.

It has rechargeable batteries so you do not feel guilty using it all the time.

It takes pictures of sufficient quality for 98% of the people using cameras.

The software works well, and makes organizing your digital diary easy.

I did have an aftermarket (non-Canon) battery last only 10 months. I have since replaced with a genuine Canon battery to always have a backup on hand.

Just a little jewel
by rogerrabbit21 ,Feb 12 '04
Pros: Good picture quality.
Cons: Weak battery.
I am using it for family photos, and landscape pics as well. It shows great performance in both. Besides, it is very compact in size, and the full metal body gives a good opportunity to carry it anywhere with you.

Compact & Powerful w/ unsurpassed service!
by road_rage ,Nov 17 '03
Pros: Canon Service ROCKS! Small, easy to use, great pictures.
Cons: Great picture, but not the best! Wish camera had rubber on edges for additional protection.
I think that this camera is excellent! It is not the best picture available, but a great picture and it's compact size makes it much more practical and therefore usefull. I take this camera everywhere and it has done great in extreme heat and cold and getting bumped around while in it's case. I am pretty hard on things and recently broke the memory card door. I contacted Canon, shipped to them and the repaired under warranty and sent it back to me in 8 days and it was free!!! I can't say enough about this camera and even though I was reluctant to buy it for my wife, I love it and end up using it constantly!

A SUPER slick and sexy camera...oh and it works great too!
by lauren1370 ,Feb 20 '04
Pros: Small, sleek, powerful, easy-to-use, great auto-focus and zoom, wonderful color in pics, easy soft
Cons: Delay when pressing button to TAKE picture, not good clarity for 8x10 or larger pics
The canon powershot S200 digital camera is fantastic! It is super easy-to-use for those of us who are a bit electronically-challenged (okay, that's me), while advanced enough for my sister who is a professional photographer. The camera body is small, but not cheap feeling, and takes FANTASTIC pictures. The software the comes with the camera is SUPER easy to install and use. The battery lasts longer than MANY other digital cameras on the market. You definitely get the most bang for your buck with this little powerhouse!

Bought this camera to replace...
by dutchofsd_dt3000 ,Mar 29 '03
Bought this camera to replace my previous Canon camera now in use by grandson. While never mistaken for professional ability this camera will enhance the efforts of the most hopeless klutz. The 128mb CF card used in the previous camera even carried the file numbers forward. Never leave home without it.

This is a Great little...
by nick_c_dt3000 ,Mar 25 '03
This is a Great little camera! I have a $2,000.00 dollar Olympus N20 that I left at home when we took our vacation. I bought this camera for the trip because it was small, and if it fell overbord, well, to bad. This thing takes better pictures than my Oly does. I got back and printed an 8x10 and was blown away! It looked like a print ad! Now I wished I had bought the S400 just to get the longer lense. I am thinking about selling My Oly and buying it. The only limitation is the flash that only reaches 10 to 15 feet efectively. The auto focus is fast and accurate, I never had a battery go dead on be during a days shooting and reviewing photos. The metering is the most acurrate I have seen on any digital camera in a wide range of situations, and you can accually use the LCD in the day light. If you are considering other cameras in this catagory, dont.

Because of the small size,...
by steve_dt3028 ,Dec 31 '02
Because of the small size, you will take it everywhere. It is very easy to use. Loaded with features. I wish it had a 3X optical zoom like some of the other 2Meg cameras. I like the small battery pack better than 2 or 4 AA batteries other camera us. Battery charges easily & quickly. Outdoor pictures are better than indoor flash. Flash is weak but I found that with most Digial Cameras. Good software package included. I have a 64MB card which gives me lots of pictures. Easy to view and erase right on the camera. LCD panel is very clear & bright. Picture colours are true. I would recommend to a Friend. Sorry to repeat...but the size of this camera makes you want to take it with you... it's so easy to carry around in your pocket. You will take more pictures just because you have it with you.

by madha2ter_dt3000 ,Nov 01 '02
If you can't figure out how to operate this camera in 5min. or less...the problem lies not with the camera but with the user. Camera performs greater than my expectations except the flash seems to be to powerful indoors. Have recomended this camera to my dearest friends and co-workers. If you want a GREAT small digital camera look no further!

I just recieved my camera...
by keith_dt3003 ,Jan 16 '03
I just recieved my camera today (I am a new user). I read the manual, and find the camera fairly easy to opperate. The biggest problem is it doesnt come with an AC/DC power adapter to use the without a battery. This you have to buy seperately for $70. The battery doesn't last very long, especially when it is connected to a computer. Overall though, I am happy with this camera.

What a great package! LONG battery life, great control, wonderful pictures. I take it instead of my Nikon SLR on trips and outings. Don't hesitate - this is a great camera.
