A-1 Panorama Date - Water Resistant and Compact Too!

by viper1963 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Apr 03 '00
Pros: Small, Compact, Easy to Use
Cons: Limited distance range under water, short focal length
As a person who loves water, water sports and the beach; I needed an inexpensive but durable water resistant camera to catch those once-in-a-life time photos of my 40 pound rainbow trout (my fish tale); taking photos while inside a tube while surfing at...

"Where's that fish going to be in 10 seconds?" A SCUBA review.

by chimmy , Mar 17 '03
Pros: Small, light, durable, inexpensive
Cons: Underwater image quality is barely adequate
I bought this camera as an alternative (antidote) to hauling around Nikonos or underwater-housed digital camera big-rigs. Therefore, this review covers the use of this camera only as used for SCUBA, i.e. underwater, not on land.

As anyone who...

Basic but perfect

by Chris_Tal , Apr 27 '00
Pros: ease of use, robust
Cons: still looking
An underwater camera is something I had always wanted, I spend lots of time sailing and rowing and like to take pictures. Canon make good cameras and this camera seemed the best underwater choice in my price range (Nikonos one day maybe). I bought is for...

Leaky body

by libertymadows , Apr 28 '02
Pros: Reasonably priced and easy to use.
Cons: Unreliable when used underwater
I bought this camera back in Dec 1999. I had fun with it in mixed conditions (i.e on dry land as well as underwater in a swimming pool).

As the other cameras owned by me are the Nikon FM2 (fully manual), Nikon FE2 (aperture priority), Olympus...

by ednamae_dt3000 ,Aug 31 '02
Used many years in salt water. Greatest aggrivation is the switch. Works fine in use, but too easy to accidently turn on when stowing camera in a bag or case. Rugged and gives good pictures. Eventually the auto rewind quit.

I love this camera so...
by soaked_dt3000 ,Aug 14 '02
I love this camera so much I've bought two now. Both times they've leaked in 6-8 feet of water and specs say the camera is good to around 15 feet. I'm very disappointed and Canon won't stand behind it now that it's out of warranty. Great splashproof camera, lousy snorkeling camera!
