  • Capital Grille - for the carnivores

    Dec 17 '03
    Pros: Wonderful food and service
Cons: Not the place for vegetarians.

Summary: Last Friday was the first of several holiday lunches scheduled for my office. Although I have lived in Boston for ages this was the first time I ever ate at the Capital Grille. Capital Grille is located on Newbury Street near the Massachusetts Avenue ...

  • Great food, HORRIBLE service!

    Feb 06 '11
    Pros: Food quality
    Cons: SERVICE!

Summary: Yes, it was a Saturday evening - and busy....however we made reservations at 5:15 to avoid the crowd (somewhat...!)  Our waitress was busy and stressed and literally plopped food down onto the table as she flew by - diner style!! Not even ...

  • LOVE the atmosphere - HATED the Steak!

    Feb 26 '07
    Pros: Absolutely awesome atmosphere
    Cons: Overpriced, horrible steaks.

Summary: Went to the Atlanta location for my 7th Anniversary and was very disappointed in this national chain that bills itself as "The Masters of Steak" on it's website. Ha - master of WHAT steak is the question! Our appetizer of proscuitto wrapped fresh ...

  • The Best Steak You'll Ever Have

    Dec 10 '05
Pros: Excellent steaks, cooked to perfection. Warm, inviting atmosphere
Cons: A bit pricey, and the regular clientelle reflects this

Summary: If you fly the major airlines regularly and read the magazines that are placed in the seat pocket, you might have noticed frequent advertisements listing the "Best Steakhouses in America." Commonly, and not surprising, many of these establishments ...

  • Where's the Beef? Right Here

    May 03 '05
    Pros: Beef, Beef, Beef, Beef
Cons: Pretty pricey but worth it.

Summary: I've eaten in many steak houses and Capital Grille moves onto the great list. The only thing missing from this eatery is the cigar smoke, and thank God for that. The walls and ceiling are wood-detailed to the nines. Painting of famous I-Don't-Knows line ...

  • You won't be disappointed

    Apr 20 '02
Pros: Everything is excellent & it's got a casual feel
Cons: A bit costly, no cheap wines

Summary: I can be turned off by overly "steaky" steak places that seem pretentious. However, I can't ait to return to Capital Grille, where my reservations (changed several times) were attended to efficiently and pleasantly.

    The starters - whether it...

  • Not Only For Business Men

    Mar 01 '01
Pros: Well Prepared food, Quiet, dim atmosphere, and good service
Cons: A bit oppressive is the decor.

Summary: On our second anniversary, my husband got us reservations for dinner at the Capital Grille.

I was excited, I'd never been before but I had only heard good reviews. Besides, I used to go to night school on the same block and the place was...

  • The Capital Grille: Newbury's Best Steak

    Feb 15 '01
    Pros: Fantastic food, fair prices
Cons: no cons, just go for the steak

Summary: Ahh the Capital Grille...who hasn’t noticed it sitting near the corner of Newbury St. and Mass Ave.? Usually there’s a few Mercedes’ and limos out front. You walk by and peer in through the front windows at and ocean of dark wood and beautifully cut...

  • Deliciousness with Class

    May 17 '00
    Pros: mashed potatoes, maitre 'd
Cons: not good for small groups, bad if you don't like smoke

Summary: I love the Capital Grille. I have been eating at the Capital Grilles in Boston and Providence, RI, since I was 11 years old. The lobster and of course, the steak can't be beat. Also, a dish not to miss is the mashed potatoes. They come with the potato...

  • Clubby, city steakhouse.

    Dec 12 '99
Pros: Red meat prepared the way god intended.
Cons: Almost a caricature of a mens club.

Summary: There are a pair of these steakhouses in Boston: Back Bay and Chestnut Hill. This is a bastion for carnivores, particularly alpha males, on expense accounts, who seek single malt scotch (they make a great martini), a great steak (the swordfish is also...

  • Express Reviews
  • Highly Overrated

    Aug 23 '09
Pros: The french fries were good.
Cons: The steak lacked flavor and had to sent back once because it was undercooked.

Summary: Overrated. Under delivered. Service acted like they were doing us a favor. They weren't. The food was highly disappointing. The server asked us to 'tell our friends'. I'm not sure he would think that a good idea. Voting with out feet - we won't go

  • Great service-Great food- Great experience

    Apr 25 '09
    Pros: A must dining experience
    Cons: None

Summary: My wife and I were celebrating our 38th anniversery. We visited the Rosemont, Il location. We've been to several Chicago area steakhouses, but I have to admit this was a wonderful dining experience. All the staff was friendly, seemed as if they really
