Pros: Best serving staff ever seen. Great port stops. Beautiful ship. Cons: Violent shuddering at certain speed and sea conditions. I hear it's fixed. Check in.
Another looonnggg review of a mostly great trip. I also wrote this on our return for a cruise forum board. Just wanted to share our experiences on Epinions. Aloha! There we went again. Around the middle of August 2002, my Queen started making ...
Pros: Beautifully designed ship, great price, great staff Cons: So-So food and entertainment
This 8 day trip was my 7th cruise but the first time ever leaving from my home town of San Diego, Ca. Embarkation was seamless. We arrived around 1pm and were on the ship within a half hour. My only moment of confusion was in trying to find out who to ...
Pros: Comfortable clean ship and great itinerary Cons: None
Following is a rather long review of the 2/19/07 sailing of the Carnival Spirit from San Diego to Acapulco, Ixtapa/Zihautanejo and Manzanillo. This was our 3rd cruise following a 4-day trip on the Carnival Paradise in October of 2006 (Catalina and ...
Pros: Convenient departure locations and good pricing on cruises. An excellent vacation getaway! Cons: Not the highest quality, but not the highest prices, either.
We have cruised aboard the Carnival Spirit two times, once in Alaska and once along the Mexican Riviera. We enjoyed both cruises very much. It's fortunate these were our first two cruises ever, because later comparisons to Celebrity cruise line left ...
Pros: Service, itinerary, spa and fitness center, food, entertainment, fast elevators, sailing views Cons: Kids program (early teens), limited foods at odd hours, photos, pools
Completed the southbound Whittier to Vancouver trip in June, 2006. This was probably one of our favorite vacations of all time...the ship is fantastic, the shore excursions are fun, and the sites and sounds of Alaska are inspiring. This was a family ...
Pros: Excellent vacation, beautiful ship, excellent itinerary/ports, amazing food (quality, quantity, choice and presentation. Cons: Not enough time at port of calls. Overall mood on ship not upbeat.
My mother, sister and I made our first cruise, together on the Spirit.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and loved the itinerary. It was perfect for virgin cruisers to have 2 days to get familiar with the ship; then 3 days at the various ports;...
Pros: Great cabin steward and wonderful waiter. Room was beautiful and comfortable. Great water pressure. Cons: S0-so food (dining room okay). Nonworking pools and jacuzzis.
Overall the cruise was fun, but wouldn't cruise Carnival again. Staff were attentive, room nice, food okay, sun was great. The cabin steward and our waiter were exceptionally attentive and couldn't have been better. The ship was beautiful ...
Pros: Really great service and lavish shows Cons: Not for the non-smokers, garish decor
There are faster and less expensive ways of getting from Miami to San Diego, but they probably are not as interesting as using the Carnival Spirit as your prime mode of transportation. In the years following retirement, I have done about fifty cruises, ...
Pros: The sales job Carnival does to get you to sail with them. Cons: The actual cruise experience you will receive and Carnival's missed port-of-call policy.
So you've booked your cruise on the Spirit, or even any of the Carnival ships. When you arrive to board,as you are checking in, ask about the weather and seas conditions for your destinations. As long as the boat will not be subject to condition ...
Pros: Good staff, good food, good service Cons: Terrible mattress and lots of vibration
Garish decor.
Boarded Spirit on Aug 30, 2006.
Embarking and Debarking were handled very well and efficiantly.
The servers were wonderful. Always amusing and very prompt at serving the food, always remembering who ordered what.
The food in the Empire Dining room was excellent as was the service.
The food on the Lido deck was equally good. Made to order omlets at breakfast, lots of variety.
We thought the decor was garish. Much use of orange colors
The Atrium was very nice as was the Empire dining room
Stateroom was Roomy, Clean, nice bathroom. Done in orange again.
The main complaint I had was the bed. The matress seemed to
be made of foam covered in vinyl. It was hard. I complained to the purser and she said they were all the same.
Others complained also.
All staff was very good, always polite and said hello.
The entertainment was very good. They had excellent dancers, two commedians came onboard at stops for two shows and then got off. An extra I thought
Also lots of vibration and noise at cruising speed. The cruise director said it was caused by the clothes dryers.
NOT.
Pros: A beautiful sail through the passage, Lynn Canal, College Fjord. Enough activities and food choices. Cons: Terrible mattresses, poor information sharing, some poor shows and food quality on the Lido deck.
The Spirit provides a good value and excellent itinery from Vancouver BC to Whittier (Anchorage) Alaska, but there are some highly annoying problems aboard the ship and apparently no managerial personnel willing to address them.
