Cedant Web Hosting

Pros: I honestly cannot give one pro for this company.
Cons: Really, too many to list.

I have been a customer of Cedant.com for several years. They used to have outstanding customer and technical support. However, in the last year or two, they were sold to a foreign company (I'm assuming because of the incomprehensible support team) and have completely lost all credibility with me and my clients.

Their support, technical and billing staff don't seem to have a clue about what is going on, they have double and triple-billed both me and my clients and trying to get in touch with them has been a true nightmare. I would highly recommend moving your sites to a new hosting company who actually cares about their customers, knows something about web hosting and understands the billing process.

I personally switched all of my sites and my client's sites to WebCS - http://www.webcs.com. They came highly recommended on Epinions and so far have lived up to their reputation and promises. They are professional, competitively priced and will transfer your accounts for you without any issue. Excellent customer support and amazing technical understanding. I highly recommend this company. I honestly cannot say enough about them!

Pros: Quick setup, decent service.
Cons: Lags behind other services, costs more.

I signed up with Cedant way back in 2000, and was impressed with how fast they allowed me to set up my site. But in the years since, I've learned that Cedant is not exactly up to par with other hosts. For instance, it does not offer CPanel, which is something that most folks who run websites prefer and use frequently. Additionally, the price is not right: after 6 years, I'm still paying $18.95 per month for my Cedant account, while my newer sites (which I host with more "modern" services and hosts) typically run only $8 to $12 dollars per month, even while offering more services.

Pros: Cedant offers enticing web hosting packages
Cons: Cedant fails to provide all the features they advertise.

I recently signed up for Cedant Reseller Account. I was promised by both the website ad and an account rep that I would receive a Cedant EXL hosting plan for $49/month. After I signed up, I was told that they would provide a lower level hosting plan and I would not receive everything listed on their Reseller ad page. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was promised that one would call me but never heard from anyone.

WARNING!!! DO NOT PURCHASE ANY CEDANT WEB HOSTING ACCOUNT. THEY DO NOT PROVIDE WHAT THEY SPECIFY IN THEIR PACKAGES AND THEN MAKE NO APOLOGY FOR THEIR SHORTCOMINGS.
