It’s funny to look back and think of the things that you just “had to have”. The Chia Pet was one of those things. The first Chia Pet we purchased was a gag gift for my dad. When we had to put out sixteen year old Belgium Sheepdog, Pepper,...
Pros: Fun to throw; good "revenge gift." Cons: You'll feel like an idiot for wasting your money on one of these things
I'm not sure exactly how long these things have been around, but I know it's been for well over a decade. I still remember the television commercials advising me that these were at "fine" stores everywhere such as Kmart, Wal-Mart, Walgreen's...
Pros: A pet that you don't have to clean up after!
Cons: Doesn't always grow well. Messy, Rather Expensive!
This write-off is in honor of "bluehawq's" first. She has decided to call it "My Silly Pet". Though we may not all have silly pets, we may know someone who does. Below is a list of participants, please be sure to check all these fine people out. And...
Pros: Grow Your Own CHIA PET AND BE THE COOLEST!!! Cons: Requires more care than your Pet Rock
The only thing that is bad about the Chia Pet, it isn't available year round.
My favorite "pet" is my Chia Pet. I have had my Chia Bull for many years. My Chia Pet does not need to be walked, fed, bathed, or brushed. Therefore he is...
Pros: Not too expensive Cons: doesnt work very well
My husband, like many other men in the world, is balding, or as he prefers to call it "thinning". He got one of the chia heads for christmas as a joke. The kids thought it was pretty cool and decided we should grow some hair on dad chia. We...
Pros: Its the pottery that grows Cons: ch-ch-ch-cheap!
I would ask "Why are these things still on the market", but then I would have to ask "Why is clapper (clap on, clap off, the clapper) still on the market"? Why do you only see the chia pet advertised during the Christmas season? Are...
Pros: look cute if you can get them to work Cons: messy, do not work properly
I admit, I always wanted my own Chia Pet ever since I was little. I'd always make jokes about having a Chia Pet and keeping it in my locker at school. From the commercials, they looked easy to use, fun, and entertaining. Plus they always looked so darn...
Pros: It's a fun thing to share with your friends and family Cons: they are just so darned cute, don't ya think?
Never had a Chia that didn't look as good as the one I have now..Opps sorry thats last weeks pasta in the fridge. Ok serious as a butterfly on a Chia Christmas tree (do they have those yet) I had a head, a wonderful, but odd looking head, it...
Pros: Great gift idea for just about everyone Cons: Not quite a cute as picture on the box.
They look so irresistible on the store shelves. Green and fuzzy and cute. Perfect gift for the person on your list that you don't know what to get for a present. It fits just about everyone. After all , how hard can it be? Just put on the seeds...
What did I do wrong to deserve this?
Did I say something to upset my aunt? Did I say something to her kids that I should not have said? There must be some reason why she bought me that ugly Chia Pet!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: Fun commercial.. would have been cool had it grown properly Cons: It doesn't grow!
It's the pottery that doesn't grow! You might as well roll up your money and throw it in the trash can..It would be less frustrating than trying to grow this thing!
My daughter and brother have always wanted Chia Pets all because of the...
Pros: Possesses godlike qualities and hours of awesome amusement Cons: Sometimes they can be so captivating one thinks they hear them speaking.
There was a time last December when I was feeling defeated by the savage elements of this cold world; nothing was working out. I was unhappy with my position in life in every respect: health, orginizational ability, motivation, love, and moral conduct...
Chia Pet....SMall...Green...and PURELY EVIL! What have we put ourselves into? Sure, they are easy to take care of...and they look pretty nice, but don't you think you could give a better gift than a chia pet? Lets just not worry about the small things in...
Pros: It deserves cult status Cons: Can't get them in England!!!
On a recent trip to San Diego from England to see my friend over the Christmas period, I enquired as to the prolific advertising for "Chia Head" and so on (even the new Looney Tunes range!!!). He explained that there were these terracotta...
Chia Head, Chia Dog, Chia Cat, Chia Sheep, Chia Seal, Chia Tree - there is a Chia everything. These are NOT beautiful plants - go to a nursery if you want pretty flowers and shrubbery.
These are cheap (not price wise) novelties that grow low...
Pros: Chia Herb Garden is useful, I like having the fresh herbs on hand. Cons: Only three of the six types of seeds worked.
This review is of the Chia Herb Garden, which is actually much more useful than any of the Chia Pets. The herb garden has given me a bountiful supply of basil and parsley, which I have transplanted into larger pots and use on a regular basis. The fresh...
Pros: Green is my fav color Cons: theyre messy and childish
I would NEVER i repeat NEVER buy a cheesy thing like a Chia Pet. Who in there right mind would waste 20 bucks on something that just stands there and grows grass and then dies? There is so much else in the world that you could spend 20 dollars on....
I purchased a chia pet for my brother a few years ago. Man, that thing was ugly, ha ha ha ha. It was a turtle sculpture with a green afro, quite odd. My brother had to water it every day after putting the seeds on the sculpture. It grew and took and...
Pros: Chia-cat looked like it might provide some fresh snacking for our real cat. Cons: Seeds grow whitish mold, not sprouts of green and certainly not an entire coat!
We got a "Chia Cat" for Christmas, and tried growing it that winter using the plastic bags to keep it moist. It sprouted a little, but then died. We figured it was just too cold in our Philly apartment in the dead of winter.
We tried it again this summer, a time when it is really hot with high humidity! Again, we saw a few sprouts, but then after about a week and a half the majority of the seeds on the outside just started to mold. So now we put it out on the outside porch with lots of water and sunshine, and the mold continues to grow.
I think sometimes when you adopt a new pet, it's just bad and you should send it back. This Chia was not meant to love us.
